I agree with the others. Don't do it if it is going to be a slog. No good for you as you won't be able to relax & enjoy making it. There is a limit to what you can do for others - a small thing OK maybe if you like design but not if you don't want to

Tell the person/s you have several deadlines to meet for your own stitching items for the next year or more & you cannot do it. But add you are willing to give them a 1 hour lesson (or maybe 2 hours max. no more) so they can make it themselves.

Difficult to do without feeling guilty. I've not stitched for people on request but have knitted baby items for family, close friends & immediate neighbours on the understanding they bought the wool. Luckily I did not have many at one time where my own knitting was left for months but if it had have happened, would have said I needed to knit some for my own children & immediate family so unable to do theirs at that time.

:whoop: It's kinda liberating isn't it? When you say "no" and the world doesn't crash in on you. :)

Having said no once, maybe a second won't be needed & you can do what you want.

All the best,

Richard.

Keep posting your work on Facebook, just note in the post what it would have cost had it been a commission. Broke people will stop asking to abuse you.

Well done Vanessa! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :whoop:

I like SteveM's idea. I once worked out what the labour on Adobe White would cost at the then minimum wage per hour and it was £ thousands. Non-stitchers have no clue how much time and effort goes into our craft. Not their fault, they've just never done one.
