Please help me find a piece of reading about embroidery

Post by agi »

Tomorrow we are celebrating World Book day in our school. At 10.00 am everybody should have a pause in the lesson they are teaching and read for 10 minutes.

I would like to find a book or a story, or just a chapter of a book where embroidery or sewing plays an important part - so we can read something related to the textile lesson.

Has anyone any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

What a great idea! I "googled" history of embroidery and as you can imagine there were gazillions of options. I liked this one, not sure if that is what you are looking for.

The only one I could think of was 'The Summer Tree' by Guy Gavriel Kay, part of the Finovar Tapestry. However, I don't want to inflict that book on anyone, despite the fact I love 'A Song for Arbonne' and 'Tigana' by the same author.

Richard.

Thank you. I don't know it but will look at it. :)

I actually found two tales, I think I will print them out and give them to the kids to read. Not embroidery but sewing. I like them both :) Here they are if anyone is interested.
