Vintage Fishing pattern

Post by Piggy Browne »

I'm looking for a vintage Fishing pattern to do for my husband's birthday and not having much luck! I can find lots of cutesy ones but nothing with a nostalgic feel with wooden reels or creel baskets etc, something that would like on linen/evenweave. Any ideas??
Many thanks.

 Hello Karen, and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! There are a lot of fishing patterns out there, both "cutesy" and vintage. I did a search on "cross stitch fishing patterns" and there are a lot to sort through as they vary so much in size and type. My husband was an avid fisherman and I ended up stitching a fishing themed afghan because I couldn't decide which pattern I wanted at the time, so I know how difficult it can be. That was quite a few years ago when finding patterns meant sorting through the books and leaflets at an LNS. I hope you find what you are looking for. I'd probably start by doing a web search or going to one of the online sites like 123Stitch, ABC Stitch Therapy, and sewandso to name just a few that I looked at. I also hope that you stay with us once you find your pattern so we can watch your progress. Looking forward to getting to know you!

Thank you ladies for the warm welcome and suggestions. I'm going to take a closer look at the two links I've been sent. This is my first foray into the world of forums and am excited to see and hear what other stitchers are up too. It'll help to brighten an otherwise cloudy day here in rainy England :-)

I don't go for cutesy stuff either, especially for a man, so I might pick something like these:
