Can you park and/or cross country on a piece of work that isn't full coverage ?

That would probably depend on how light your fabric is compared to how dark your thread colors are. Ultimately it will come down to your personal preference. Take your darkest and/or brightest color and make a few stitches, then travel over 2 inches or so and make a few more. Put your fabric down against the backing you plan to use and see if you can see the thread through your fabric. Happy Stitching!

I do. I have to plan ahead, though, and make sure that a thread doesn't cross an expanse of unstitched area so that it becomes visible on the front. Sometimes that means running the same color in multiple needles.
