I can vouch for them -- you'll really enjoy using them... especially after *ahem* kitchen scissors! :P

I went to a Sewing & Stitchery Expo yesterday (not a lot of stitching stuff, mostly quilting and sewing... there is a needlepoint expo in November, I better start saving now!). I bought some rayon thread to try. It's beautiful, silky and soft. But what a total pain to work with!!!! The booth sold needlepoint projects, something like Japanese needlepoint?? Beautiful stuff, but I will never use rayon thread again. Each stitch of a cross, I had to use a laying tool. And even then it was twisty and curly and trying to knot. Ugh.

Edited to add the picture. So much :anotherfrog: :anotherfrog: :anotherfrog:
(sorry it's so gigantic. Any idea how to make it smaller??)

I've never used rayon fibers, but the effort is apparently worth it - look how pretty it is.

It looks so shiny and I love those colours! I've always been put off those rayon threads after reports of them being a right pain in the **** to use!!  Then I was given some cheapo shiny threads from Thailand..... :tizzy: Bleugh! :tantrum: I stitched a tiny star on a card to bling it up a bit.....Never again! So! They sit looking shiny and pretty in their box...unused!

I agree!!

You can make the image smaller if you want by using the IMG thumb setting when posting from Photobucket. The reader of the post can then click on it to take them to Photobucket and see the full picture. Or post the big ones. Whichever works best for you.

Oh good - thank you for that! I'll remember that next time.

Yes the rayon was ridiculous & I won't use it again. I thought I might just do one more small one because it wasn't cheap but I don't think I can face it. I suppose at least I learned a couple things, though: 1) laying tools are awesome and 2) rayon is not. I've started another small design now with regular DMC and it's an absolute joy! I have some red and green silk thread, I'll try that next.

It looks very festive in the red and green! I have used rayon and artifical silk for effect, and the effect is lovely, but they are incredibly "boingy" to use so after a little bit of it I need to calm down with some cottons or real silks :-)

Aren't new scissors the best? My mom was over a couple months ago and told me my scissors were terrible. I thought to myself "what does she know...". They cut fabric just fine. That's what I thought, until I tried new scissors at the sewing expo! AMAZING difference.

Have fun cutting!!!

Have been using them this afternoon and they are the sharpest scissors I've ever used! Very light too and I love the plastic cover which means when I'm away I don't have to have them wrapped round and round in a bag which is what I used to do! :)

Glad they are meeting with your approval :-) - I like their sharpness and superfine tips myself, great for cutting out buttonholed projects.

Treated myself to one of the Bothy Threads Hannah Dale 'Bright Eyes' cross stitch kits for my birthday. I adore her designs and I love that she's turned several of them into cross stitch. Was torn between three of them but decided to get the hare :D
