So with my administrative professional's gift card, this is the stash I bought:

Image

The metallic thread was in their clearance section - all that for $6!

Also, the Home Sweet Home design is up for grabs. I got it in the clearance section for less than $2, on a whim (and trying to get my total as close to $50 as I could to use up the entire gift card!). I have so many patterns, I will never get to this one. Also, I've had some very generous people on this site send me stuff for free and I'd like to return the favor! If you want it, let me know and I will mail it to you!

Great stash! I'll be interested to know how you get along with the laying tool. Mind doesn't slip onto my finger, but is a separate thing. As for the metallics...

I have used a similar laying tool but it was plain silver... so boring. :P I much prefer the celtic one. I like it because it's malleable so I can bend it around my thumb to fit better so it stays on. It's a little like stitching with a narwhal stuck on my finger, and I have to be careful where I put my needleminder (it gets stuck to it a lot) but it helps if I'm working with tangly thread. I love it.

You did a great job spending your gift card! If I thought I'd really do Home Sweet Home, I'd grab it but I'd rather leave it for someone who actually thinks they'll do it. It's really very pretty!

Well Done on you lovely shopping spree, I am sure you will have fun doing those ornaments and I love that laying tool.

I am like Debby (fccs) I think that Home Sweet Home one is gorgeous and a few years ago I would have grabbed it but I have oceans of charts/kits here still to do and a lot will never get done. I do hope some takes it and gets to stitch it, it is really pretty.

Made the mistake of looking through this thread and the gallery, and I'm getting the itch to start new projects! LOL I'm desperately trying to make myself finish at least the lighthouses first. I'm at the point where they're driving me nuts and of course I can't stitch fast enough. Love looking at your goodies!

I love the needle minder! Pretty metallics too. Do you usually stitch with a laying tool? Have you tried it yet?

Not usually, but if I'm using metallics, definitely. Also used it when I was trying out rayon thread (never again!). The laying tool does help make more even stitches and makes the overall project look better (to me). If I'm stitching with regular DMC thread, I don't usually use it -- but it is always nearby for that one piece of thread that is always more twisty than others!

This is a kit, which I got for my birthday. The cloth is white evenweave. It is one of John Clayton's flight of Fancy. I do love swans. :D

I've been very naughty and ordered another Wrendale Designs cross stitch! This one is called 'The Nutcracker' and features my favourite British mammal the Red Squirrel! I also plan on getting another couple but not for many years yet I have the 'Bright Eyes' one which I bought recently featuring the Brown Hare which I've not started yet. Marty the Mallard (just came up with that name for him just now) is a work in progress and I'm almost halfway doing him. I plan on buying some Charles Craft Lite Oatmeal aida on the website Stitcher to do them all on. I only get my fabric from this website as they deliver them in a roll which I think is brilliant and saves trying to get the creases out :whoop:

Good on you Nicole so glad you bought this cute one. So far I have resisted getting it as I have several squirrel ones already.

Just bought my Charles Craft aida for all my Wrendale projects. Decided to go for the 16 count Antique White and in a big roll (2 yards by 30 inches) so it should last me a long time! ;)

I am so thrilled--I won another set of beautiful threads from Victorian Motto--my second set in about 6 months and they are beyond stunning. This is a collection of 12 beautiful patriotic colors 20 yards each!!
