Thanks and unfortunately, they live on the other side of the state, it's a 5-6 hour drive away (I may or may not have accomplished it in 4, my mother need not be aware of this). Now that I'm (kind of involuntarily) working full-time, we also can't just plan a party for them. I did get the time off and hopefully tax refund will come in by the time the wedding rolls around- that way the extra money for the hotel won't be a bother. And yeah, there isn't a single hotel in Seattle that doesn't require paying for parking (or a hotel that doesn't try to slip it onto the bill, we had one try it a couple years ago). Two years ago we simply parked at the convention center since 24-hour parking ended up being cheaper than the hotel in the long run.

On the upside, against my 21k sales goal this month (second highest in the store), I have now officially hit 50%. One of my impulse-purchasers came in and walked out with a 4.5k cocktail ring. Funny old lady, she's ridiculously loaded (old money, pretty sure they might have something to do with a shipping company in the area) and impulse buys on insane amounts (last purchase was over 7 grand for Christmas presents). So that made my week right there. I still have to do about 10k still but it's nice knowing I'm on track for once. Sales is so stressful and sometimes I just want to shoot myself. Our huge goals are because of Valentine's Day- and next month will be no better because we have our 1 day only trunk show on March 10th.

Now if I can just knock out a few more wedding sets, I'll be good to go. Anyone wanna fly here and buy some diamonds?

I am so sad for your situation. It's crazy!

My own is a bit better. Feminine problems, yes, but not that much joint pain. Maybe some pain in my lower abdomen, but it's meant to be in these things. I'm a woman after all.

I hope you all the best! I'm glad I didn't spend here last time but a few days and then I got home. But maybe a few and (in my case it is hot chocolate) would not bother.

I admit I spent a few nights here last week and poor nurses had to bring me painkillers and spice every single drink with ginger, but it helped to keep the pain away so that I could walk. I feel better for the time being, but rheuma juvenilis is such an unpredictable friend you don't know when it gets rough again.

Hope you will soon feel better. One of friends has juvenile rheumatism & she's told me how painful it is, especially in winter months. Hope some R&R as well as TLC in this ward will help.

KF, that doesn't sound any nice! And last night and this morning my poor toes have been in pain. And when I looked outside, it was snowing. Well, my body doesn't lie. It knows every time. Every single time.
I wish your friend all the best! This RJ is not any nice companion to live with.

I am back. My back hurts in such a way you can't imagine! I had to take a painkiller, and now I may have to take another before I go to bed. My poor back! This is not good for my poor kidneys, and who knows how long I must stay. I have no idea. Next week should remind me of my womanhood once again, and that causes me more pain, so it may be this is another longer visit. This nasty rheuma tortures me like crazy!
***later the same day***
No'o, I'm not going to leave before this pain leaves me alone! Poor nurses had to give me a painkiller this morning, so that I'd simply get out of bed. My time here won't end today.

The pain still continues. But I've stitched up a storm today. One anniversary gift is almost done. One can always use one's time well even here.

I feel miserable. Poor nurses must bring me at least 2 painkillers a day and spice every single cup of tea with ginger. And heat pad..oh yes, I've needed that too. This is miserable! The rheuma pain alone would be enough, but noooooo, I am a woman and my body makes sure I won't forget it any time soon.

Well, we do our best to keep everyone comfortable, but sometimes these nasty pesky problems develop minds of their own. Never good.

*plumps pillows, refreshes hot water bottles and drinking water*

I had to rest the whole Thursday. Rest and sleep. The pain was so intense I wouldn't have managed without a heat pad or something like that. Now I try if my body lets me sit even a little while without pain. Discomfort, yes, but not that much pain. Stiffness, yes, but it belongs, when RJ (rheuma juvenilis) is in the picture.

I have a little update on my hips, I will be having two hip replacements later on in the year, its not been an easy decision but its for the best it means I can be free of pain and able to get my life back on track.
I decided against the osteotomy I was offered because my surgeon could not guarantee I'd be pain free and having to have further ops to shave off bone if necessary, I just don't think I could put myself through it, I would love to keep my natural hips but to me it seems like too much of a risky price to pay for it.
I think I need a nice a bit of chocolate and put my feet up for the weekend, its been a tough couple of weeks although its a happy occasion my son has just left home, I am so happy for him but I'm sad too its hard to look in an empty bedroom, however to be honest I'm thankful that he has a super job lovely girlfriend and a great new flat to live in its all good.

Lulu, my sister had two hip replacements in the same year also. She had been in pain for years and was having more and more trouble walking. She was in her late 50's. The difference for her was amazing. Wishing you the best of luck! Keep us updated!

Oh Lulu, I hope you will get those new hips soon! One friend of mine fell and hurt her hip. She struggled for years, until the pain got so bad she had to get the surgery. But a bit more than 1 year after the surgery she passed away. I dare to say I still miss her and sometimes I still get flashbacks about her. It was bad in the beginning, but now it has become milder. I don't burst into tears every time something reminds me of her.
My back is a bit better. A bit stiff, yes, but being able to sleep at night without the heat pad...oh yes, it is luxury!
Some may say the heat pad is luxury, but to me being able to sleep without it is luxury. I am already able to sit a bit longer without constant pain, and walk too. Nurses don't need to walk by my side all the time.
Stitching continues. I just took 1 picture to the post office, so that they send it to the local Framing Man. He knows what to do.

Lulu, hope those hip replacements will give you all that you hope for and more!

Serinde, can we set up a special Sally Squirrel room with all her favourite things plus plenty of light for a little gentle stitching?

Indeed, Mabel, that is what I began work on as soon as I heard the news. We have a special "squirrel" suite in place now.

Gonna be sending Sally an email today. Will let her know about all the warm wishes and about her special room. What a lovely idea!

it. Oh Bless you for my lovely room, and what great light I have so I can see these lovely new card charts and get busy. Must decide which to do first - I can't wait to check into "squirrel suite" maybe later tomorrow after I get back from seeing the surgeon for a check up.
Such a lovely room but it is almost time for dinner so I must find some patience from somewhere - any suggestions welcome.

S the S, you need rest. Just take it easy and let the nurses pamper you. You deserve it.
My own situation is a little bit lighter. The back pain has lessened, but the poor nurses have been in trouble with me when they have yanked my mattress back in place whenever I've gotten up for a while to get to the ladies' room.
After that I've come back and snuggled back to sleep right away, and that sleep has lasted for hours! But that long sleep is exactly what I need at the moment. I feel better already, but maybe I stay for a few more nights, just to make sure I'll be as close to my normal self as I can.
