As you guys probably know, I make a ton of stitched, puffy mason jar lids. This one is one my mom asked me to make for a friend of hers she's known since grade school. I guess she's a cat lady. :) I can't say this was my favorite thing to stitch - too many browns. I used 3 strands and probably should have used 2. But it was small, and I learned the couching stitch for the whiskers, so I learned something new (which wasn't at all difficult, but something I had never done before!). Excited now to finish my sparkly snowflake jar lid and then move on to the bluebird for my mom, from a chart I got from Carole!

Speaking as a cat owned lady, that is a perfectly wonderful jar lid! I'm sure your mom's friend will love it. Looking forward to your next projects with a special interest in the bluebird

I've decided I'm going to do beads for the stamen tips, and not french knots. I've never worked with beads on a cross-stitch design so I'm not sure how frustrating it'll be to use super tiny little beads but it has to be easier than doing 75 freakin' french knots! I counted. I will go mental if I have to do that!

Lovely cat, I think it actually turned out well with the 3 strands, such good coverage. Good luck with the beads. (I personally love to do French knots.)

Whipped this one together over the weekend. Carole -- the bluebird one that you gave me won't fit on a jar lid unless I want my eyes to bleed, so I'm going to use a hoop to frame that one and use 32 ct lugana. I started it last night & will take a picture after I work on it some more tonight (not much to take a picture of right now!). But just in case my mom (who loves bluebirds) makes a fuss about not getting a mason jar, I made this one for her this weekend, and will make her the other bluebird next!

One of these days, I'll get around to working on a bigger project. I love the small ones because I finish them quickly & it feels nice to finish things, but I'd like to do something bigger soon.

Perfect! Your mum will love it. :applesauce:

I know what you mean about small projects. They are so satisfying to do. I get bogged down in big stuff thesee days.

Lovely cat & pretty bird. Cat does look good done with 3 strands. Your mum's friend will be pleased with that. The bluebird looks as though it was made for that circle as colours go so well. Your mum will be very pleased with it. Look forward to seeing the next one you make. :applesauce: :applesauce:

:applesauce: :applesauce: that bluebird fits the cap perfectly! Your mom will love it! Looking forward to seeing what you will be doing next, whether it is the larger bluebird or another lid. There is definitely satisfaction to be had from mini projects!

I'm working on the western bluebird from the chart you sent me. It's slow going though, my kid has a bazillion activities right now and isn't old enough for a drivers license so I haven't been home much! I managed to sneak in 15 minutes last night but tonight will be a good stitching night - dinner is just leftovers, and we have nowhere to go! I'll take a picture when I'm done for the evening!

Just got started on the bluebird hoop for my mom -- still consider this a mini-project, I think. It'll be about 4"x4". Eventually! My kid has kept me fully employed as a taxi driver after work lately so I haven't had much time to work on this, but here's my progress after about 3 or 4 days. You can't really tell in the picture but the fabric is a summer sky lugana -- it's so pretty! Baby blue with white swirled in it, very subtle. So pretty.

Thank you, Carole, for the pattern! My mom will love it. :D

What a gorgeous chart that is and you have made a great beginning in spite of the taxi service. I remember those days. :applesauce:
