Yes I am hoping I start losing weight from being so active and I'm not drinking any soda, just water. Me and mom gave up diet soda and soda period for our health. It puzzled my boss and co worker till I explained mom gave up soda so I did too as a support system for her.

Well tonight was one for the books. First off i was the only waitress and 20 mins into the shift I got slammed with a double digit birthday party and it stayed busy. It was almost 8 pm before i was able to quickly shove my salad in my face with my last table eating...not good for my type 2 diabetes to be so active on an empty stomach

I hope your employers are giving you enough help in being able to do the things that are necessary for managing your diabetes (like eating on time) - are they the sort of people who would be understanding if you explained it to them?
And good luck with this new direction in life, and oh, just wanted to say how kind of you to support your mum in her health choices and so making it easier for her!

Thanks Mabel.. we both have type 2. I would be better off if I ate before leaving for work but I've been so concerned with getting ready on time I forget. Today I am going to try and stop by Walmart to get some granola bars to help with balancing my activity level and my type 2 so I don't feel sick or get a little woozy till I can eat my salad for dinner at work.

Well a bit of an update. I worked my second full weekend and besides sweating rivers of sweat while cleaning as I was on my own tonight work is going well. Last week was a rough start and he cut my hours this week because of it. But I got good pointers from my coworker and stepped up my game this weekend and now I am working Monday and Weds in addition to my normal weekend shifts.. All 4 to close which made mom groan..but i want to keep my job and work what my manager gives me.

I am so happy to have a job even if the cleaning is about killing me. This week will be super busy. I have my therapy appointment and work tomorrow, an appt with my job coach on Tuesday where we will go over what i learned was wrong and figure out how to fix them, dental on weds and work, then my normal weekend shifts....

I only have two days this week to work on my crafts and with Lori Martin going on vacation end of the month which will make working interesting, I want to make her the keyhole scarf she requested before she leaves...I was going to do the knit version but with only 2 days off i gotta do the crochet version as I hook faster than I knit

Good for you - taking pointers and learning from mistakes! That's a great way to not only improve yourself, obviously, but it's a good way of showing your boss that you're serious about your job. Keep up the good work.

i want to keep this job more than a month or two like I was with my fast food jobs...I needs to be told if I am messing up so I can improve.

So pleased for you! I was very similar, and I pulled myself up. Not in the same way, I just got a regular job. It didn't start off great, I almost got fired. But I pulled myself together. Now I am going to be married! I don't work but I am a writer and trying to land some paid work with that.

I am very proud of you. It is very tough to come out and say those things and admit those things. I will pray that this is the way forward for you, and it leads on to greater things. Good luck!

I've never had an issue putting myself out there just usually it ended badly for me. I got my first paycheck today in 10 years. I got it endorsed and mom is popping into my savings account on monday

Well done!

Even if you don't get more hours, just keeping some, and doing regular work is brilliant news. I had depression from my teens to mid-twenties, and still have anxiety disorder, so I know the effort that goes into getting out of the house and working regularly. Keep updating us!

Best wishes
