Wow, that is really interesting. I love blackcurrants too. Blueberry sales have gone thru the roof, I wonder if this info will do the same for blackberries?

There's nothing wrong with that type of allergy, Serinde. :wink:

I grow them in my garden -- it's a shrub. I love them, and so do the birds. All that vitamin C. Alone, they are very, very sour but here in the UK they are usually most easily found in a very sweet fruit cordial (you dilute to the correct strength) called Ribena. In fact, in our house the boys used to call blackcurrents 'ribenaberries'. :D My eldest still drinks it, 19 years later. I'm sure it's the only thing that saves him from scurvy. :shock:

I checked out a nursery company I've bought from before and they sell black currant plants for less than $8 each. They can't ship them to certain states though.
