How can I avoid the cloth from showing between stitches? This is a lot that I purchased. After I finish and wash the Aida will it shrink any to reduce this issue?

Hello Lisa and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! I can't answer your question, since I haven't stitched on Aida in years. I would think that it would depend a lot on the fabric count as well as the number of strands of thread you are using, just as it does with other fabrics. how tightly you stitch can also make a difference. I'm sure that some of our members will have suggestions as to what you can do on projects already stitched. Stitching a test section using several different numbers of strands is one way of finding out what works best for you.

Lisa G - to reduce the amount of fabric that shows between stitches, you'll need to up the number of strands of thread you are using. On 14 count, most people use either 2 or 3 - do a few test stitches with both and see what coverage you like better. 18 ct will use 2 strands, 22 ct - use 1 or 2 - again see what you like better. 28 ct will use 1 strand if you are only going over one square, but 2 or 3 if you are going over 2 squares. Here is a link that shows what the coverages will look like on various sizes of aida cloth.

Hope that helps a little. Happy Stitching.
