Questions about making Christmas Stockings

Post by kasper »

I'm getting married next month and I want to make stockings for myself and my fiance and eventually our future children. :) Today while I was out I found a book with really cute patterns and picked it up. I realize that you have to buy the backing fabric separately but what do I do about the actual cross stitch fabric? Can I use any kind I want or so some work better then others?

I'm still a pretty novice stitcher so any advice on this would be a huge help!

You can use any fabric you want for your stocking. Most of mine have been made using 28 or 32 count Lugana, but I've also used Aida. Stockings are a lot of fun to make, so pick the fabric you are happiest stitching on and best suits the design.

P.S. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!!

I would suggest looking at Christmas stocking kits. There is a wide variety of themes and then you get all the supplies you need.
