I should of guessed there was a cross-stitch forum

Hi all, just joined.
Really nice to find this place
I don't know why it took me so long to find this forum. Have seen some really helpful and inspirational ideas while browsing through the forum today. Apparently I am a cross country stitcher and I go wherever the thread takes me. I also have a tendency of changing thread colour after the 6 strands of floss I'm working on has run out.
I randomly started cross-stitching a couple of years ago (previously had completed a farm scene for a high school project) and started small with the little multi-coloured "Tree Frogs Trio". I really enjoyed that icebreaker and was planning on working my way up to larger designs with the larger "Frog Pile", however my plans were derailed. I had mentioned in passing to family that I had started cross-stitching and proceeded to get inundated with unrequested kits which I felt obligated to complete
I have since completed a "Lion and Hippopotamus Sampler" (which I gave to my cousin for her son) and have finished 1 of 2 "Flower Faeries" (currently in UFO status as I was doing both faeries on one piece of cloth). My mother brought both kits as Christmas presents and gave the Hippo to me, and the Flower Faeries to my sister-in-law, ALL for me to do! I know, weird! You should have seen my sister-in-law's face when she opened her present!!! She is not a cross-stitcher
I hope to at sometime to share pictures of my earlier projects, I just have to find them, I know I have photos of them somewhere!
I got tired of doing projects I hadn't really wanted to complete, and am now deeply entrenched in some "Ballerina Dreams" (planned for another cousin's daughter). When I had offered the Hippos to my cousins on a "first come first serve" basis and I had asked what others may like for their youngsters. My younger cousin had suggested something purple for her daughter. I also know the little girl likes dancing. So when I saw the kit, I fell in love... It is by far the most complex thing I have ever done but when I'm working on it, time flies.
I hope to share pictures later (I have seen you all like pictures!), once I upload the current images from my phone. All the project names can be found online if interested.
Maybe after this I will go back to the "Frog Pile". It still looks like fun
