Looking for a Designer

Post by mellybee70 »

Hello all, I am new to this forum so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Melissa Summers and I live in Washington State. I have been asked to create a cross stitching for a friend that I cannot locate a pattern for. So I was wondering if there was anyone out there who would be willing or able to design one for me. Please let me know and I look forward to hearing from someone! :)

Hello Melissa and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! What is the pattern you are looking for? We do have some members who are also designers and others who might be able to help you find a pattern that meets your needs. What types of projects do you like to stitch?

Yes I'm still looking! And it's not a pattern that I have seen before, it is something that would have to be designed from scratch, which I do not know how to do. I mostly do counted cross stitch but I do know other basic stitches like satin stitch, backstitch, French knots, etc. I have a friend who has recently gotten into hiking and has also recently acquired a travel trailer and she's wanting a piece to hang up in her travel trailer that has this quote: "May your feet take you where your heart wants to go" and the picture would be hiking boot foot prints leading towards heart-shaped hole in a beautiful mountain scape. I have an idea picture but I don't know how to post it on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On this forum there is the designer skitzzzzz (look here http://www.crossstitchforum.com/memberl ... ile&u=2573).

There is also an alternative you could consider, as I did when I found there were no pictures exactly like I wanted to stitch. That is to find/create the image you want to stitch and edit/crop it to look exactly like the image you want. Then use some conversion software to get the stitch colours, or use a company like Golden Kite ( http://www.goldenkite.com/index.php/cus ... e-patterns ) to do a custom pattern for you, for a [high] price.

It you take the software route, software can be free or paid for. I started off with the freebie 'Ryijy Stitch Designer' ( http://en.freedownloadmanager.org/Windo ... -FREE.html ). However Ryijy (and many of the commercial programs like PCStitch) leave colour contours visible. If you are picky about these things, then you need a program like 'Pattern Maker' or my freebie 'BlendThreads' to avoid contours (download from my signature). Only my program treats blended threads as if they are just another thread colour, making blended colours an absolute doddle. Doing it yourself means you can get exactly what you want. Just remember, with conversion software, quality of result does not necessarily come with a higher price tag.

Food for thought maybe?

Regards,

Richard.
