New stitcher :)

Hello! I've been lurking for a few days so I decided to come out and say hi. My wife has cross-stitched for most of her life, and taught me a couple years ago (she also taught me how to crochet and we explored quilting, but I can't sew a straight line with a sewing machine let alone by hand), but I've recently picked it back up. I also knit and crochet, as well as design - one of my patterns was published in the most recent edition of Knitty.

My wife suffers from chronic fatigue and joint pain, so she's had to give up most crafts - but now she's on new medication that's letting her get back to stitching! I just work a lot and have little time for it, but I keep plugging away.

I'm from Toronto. We have four cats and a tortoise, and I will spam with pictures if given the slightest provocation :)

Right now I'm working on the Frosted Pumpkin Happily Ever After MSAL, as well as a tea-themed clock, and I have a Wreck-It Ralph piece in hibernation until I can find the pattern again.

I love seeing what everyone's working on!

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! I'm another who is glad that you have come out of the shadows. I hope you will post pictures since we love pictures. And hope that your wife feels able to stitch, now that she is on a new medication. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Well here is what I'm currently working on - would it be okay if I started a WIP thread for myself in Stitch-a-longs? I've been having so much fun browsing them, I can't believe how long some of them have been running.

And this is the other kit I'm working on:

Love your pics! The projects look like fun! The cats are great, especially the weird cat  . And yes, please do start a thread in the SAL section. Or several. As you have already seen, some members have one thread for all their projects, some do a new thread for each one, and some do a mixture (seperate threads for BAPs and one thread for smaller projects). Looking forward to seeing your work, whichever you decide.

Hello & welcome. Glad your wife's latest medication is enabling her return to cross stitch again; even if it only a little bit to start with hopefully she will do more as time goes on.

The pieces you are working on are most decorative & your cats are really lovely. DH & I had pets in the past but not now. Enjoy seeing other peoples pets though - always a feel good factor looking at animal pics.

Look forward to more updates from you & perhaps sometime you can show us your wife's work whichever category it falls into. I'm sure others would like to see them as well as me. Happy crafting to you both. :)

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you've joined us and I look forward to seeing more of your work (and kitties and turtle).

I hope your wife's meds will allow her more stitching time - and that you can squeeze more in, despite work. Ugh - sometimes it's not fun having to adult, is it? :-)

Texas, Colorado, Scotland, South Carolina, Australia . . . we really are from everywhere! I'm loving this forum so far. Everyone's just really happy and positive about their hobby.

We do refer to the tortoise as a cat more often than not. "Have you fed the cats" means all five of them. And "have you fed the girls" means three female cats, a boy cat, and a ??? tortoise (we won't be able to accurate sex her until she's quite a few years older, but we use 'she' for convenience).

I'll see if I can get my wife's stitching away from her for a few pictures when I set up my WIP thread.

Your WIP thread is going to be awesome.
Loved seeing the "girls and boys" "old cat" what a world of wisdom in those eyes. "baby" is a cutie and as for "chunky cat" he is so like my Tuppy except Tuppy is long and slim. "Scardy cat" is so lovely too.

As for your WIP's I love both of them especially the Time for Tea one - although these days I drink more coffee than tea but my first hot drink of the early morning must be tea.
