Thought I'd better join as I've been lurking in the shadows for ages, don't want to be had up for loitering! This seems a nice friendly site, lots of tips & it seems all are willing to help if you need advice.

I'm 68 & returned to cross stitch 8 years ago when I retired. It is too many years ago to remember just how long the gap was. Am between projects at the moment as knitting for coffee morning which is in a few weeks time. I like wildlife/countryside, cottages & geisha in that order of preference. Have several Joan Elliott charts to do as well, like her designs.

Next I am going to do a row of cottages, DMC chart, 14x10 inches & may need help. I see no one minds what you ask & I am sure I will be asking a t some stage or other. This will be the largest one I have attempted so may also need encouragement at times as well.

Looking forward to getting to know you all. It will be lovely to chat with like minded people.

 Hi Izzi and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! and welcome out of the shadows where lurkers exist! It's a lot more fun out here! We are a friendly and caring group who you have already figured out love stitching and love sharing ideas and help and sometimes stash. The only risk is that many of us are serious enablers so you may find that your stash increases at a geometric rate. There is no question that you can't ask here. Someone is going to either know the answer or have a good idea about where to go to find the answer. I hope you will post pictures of your projects. We love pictures! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Izzi and Welcome  from me too in sunny and warm Brisbane. So glad you de-lurked and have joined in now and I look forward to watching your progress and cheering you onwards with your new chart. It sounds as though it is really interesting. Just remember it is 1 stitch at a time which gets the job done.

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you came out of lurker status - this is a fun group, very helpful and encouraging. (And as has already been pointed out, several enablers are here.)

Thank you for warm welcome messages. I enjoy seeing what others buy so imagine I will be adding things to my stash.

Once I start preparing threads & Aida for next project will put picture up but that won't be for a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to stitching the row of cottages.

A belated welcome to the forum from the West of Scotland! No question is silly or trivial -- and if you can't find the answer by doing a search (we've talked many times about lighting, frames and that sort of thing) or the search doesn't really answer your specific question, you must ask! Someone around here will have the answer or know where to find it. :wip: :king:
