Hi !

Post by x.karasu.x »

Hi all :)
I've decided to start doing cross stitch as a hobby after rediscovering it through a friend. I used to do it when I was 9 with my nan, but haven't done it for years so here's hoping I remember how to do it all.

I do have a question though, where is a good place to bulk buy threads ? Somewhere that let's you pick the numbers and in the UK would be great. My first piece is coming with everything needed but in the future I'm hoping to not rely on kits.

Um so yeah, hi :)

Welcome back to the hobby, and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it here.
I picked it up again at 46 after a 40 year break having learnt it at school. Just like you I first tried with a kit, and haven't looked back since.

The best UK site for cheap (and that's important) DMC threads I have found is Cross Stitch Heaven http://www.cross-stitch-heaven.co.uk/.

Regards,

Richard.

Thank you everyone !
And thank you so much for that site, cheap threads is definitely a must with some of the pieces I have planned lol.
The one I've got coming is a scene from Frozen, I wanted something nice to get me back into it so picked one of my big loves.
http://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss13 ... 2kidby.jpg" target="_blank

It's only got 20 colours and is 20cm x 25cm....though a few friends on facebook are saying that's still intimidating to them lol.
I'm hoping in the next piece to do around 75 colours though, so to me this is small.
Once it's here I'll be sure to post progress photos, I'm so excited for it !

That should be a nice way back in and good preparation for something as ambitious as 75 colours.
I made the mistake of getting a 29 colour/ 350 x 240 kit with 59000 stitches as my 'way back' to stitching. Took just over 11 months and is 25" x 17".

Richard

A belated "Welcome" to the forum and welcome back to stitching from me too. Have a look at Sewandso web site, they are extremely good and very prompt with their deliveries - even downunder to Australia.

Oh wow what a big project to get back in with ! Makes me feel better about mine xD.
I've started a SAL here : http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... =6&t=28807" target="_blank so I can update with my inevitably slow progress lol.

Thank you all for the welcome <3
