Hello, My Name is Addie
So glad I found this site. I have been doing embroidering since childhood. My father taught me. He learned from his mother. Yeah, he was a Mama's boy.
I have designed several pieces that I made as gifts. I made a clock designed by Julie Eisenhower. It required just about every stitch known to embroidery. I started work on it while I was in the hospital recovering from some very serious major surgery. Not one of my brightest ideas. The nurses finally took it away from me so I could finish recovery without exhausting myself.
The second piece was a very complicated piece from the Dimensions Company. It was a two story Victorian House all done in cross stitch. It almost drove me insane. One stitch in one color. Two stitches in a different color right next to it. Back to one stitch. In the yard at the front was a blank sign supposedly for the date made. I had just recently just lost my sister when I finished it. So I named the house after her as a B&B.
Each year I try to make small gifts for Christmas. One year I made seven 5x7 pieces with an Italian Chef and the words, "Mia Cucina" down one side and the name of the recipient down the other. Across the bottom I did a satin stitch in red checker. Then I framed each of them and sent them off. I never think to take pictures of my works. I am not one to seek verbal accolades. I am just happy if the recipient likes it.

Thank you for the warm welcome Karen. What I love about embroidery is that when you are through, your piece becomes a picture. For years now I have been telling myself a big lie. That is, I am going to learn counted stitch. Everyone tells me it is easy. I should learn it before I really need help from Eyes for the Elderly. I already have graduated from one pair of glasses, but now need a new pair for reading and sewing. But there are so many excellent stamped pieces, that I want to do them all.

Greetings from Colorado and welcome to the forum. I hope you'll change you mind about taking pictures of your work - it's just so much fun to see what everyone else is working on.
My eyes aren't what they used to be - I pretty much need my lighted magnifier when I'm working on 28 count and above.
