Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread - NOW CLOSED
OK, ladies and gents, this is the Official Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread - accept no substitutes!
The idea of Stashmas was first mentioned here, in the presence of people you really shouldn't mention people in front of if you don't want them to get done. So, we went and put together some rules, and now we're doing it!
The rules are more to protect everyone's safety and make sure everyone's signing from the same sheet than anything, we're not trying to suck the fun out of this by surrounding it with red tape.
And so, here we go!
- If you want to participate in Stashmas, you must post in this thread no later than 1st November. This is to allow time for shopping and posting.
- There will be a separate stashmas wish list thread, where people can state if they have a particular preference for something/something they really wouldn't want. People are encouraged to check this before shopping, so no-one gets things they'll never use!
- Send something of yourself/your town/country/season as well as some piece of stash, so the person you're sending to can get that lovely personal touch
- Spending limit is £10/$17/convert to your own local currency (Google will convert for you if you have problems)
- All communication, for instance getting the name and address of the person you're buying for, should be done through myself and Dawn. This is for everyone's security (obviously no-one should be posting their private contact details on a public forum), and to maintain the "secret" aspect of "Secret Stashmas"!
- If you don't want to give out your home address that’s fine, but we will still need an address that you are happy to have things sent to (e.g. work)
- There will be a separate "Look what I got!" thread. Posting pictures up there is very much encouraged, so we can all share in the fun and enjoyment!
-You can't choose who you get a present for. If you want to get an individual present for your friend, that's fine, but do it separately from this.
-If you are not willing to send things abroad (because of the increased cost of postage or for any other reason), please say so and we will try to pair you up with someone from your own country. If you don't say anything, we'll assume you're happy to post anywhere.
So, names please!
I'm in!

Count me in although sorry to all those abroad but I'd rather post to someone in UK due to cost as I'm having money trouble currently.
Re: Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread
I'm in, too, and can post anywhere. Even the North Pole. (which isn't all that far away actually...)

Re: Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread
Well, you're nearer to the North Pole than to Australia, Serinde!
I wonder if we have any stitchers at the North Pole? You'd think they'd have frost bite if they had to take their mittens off to stitch.....

Re: Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread
I am sorry if I am being a bit dense here but are we stitching something and sending along with the stash we are sending or is this strickly a stash giving swap???? I am in regardless but I would like to know so I can plan for the whole thing.
One of my nieces does actually live at the North Pole it makes me laugh everytime I send her a letter or some thing.

Generally I think we're stash giving, but when stashmas was first mentioned the comment was made that it'd be nice if people could send along something little to represent either themselves or the season (so if someone was sending to a different hemisphere, it's a different season over there and these hemispheres are just crazy aren't they) - so, if you wanted to stitch something that's cool, but it could be anything so long as it's personal

Re: Secret Stashmas Sign-up Thread
I'm in too. (actually it is cheaper for me to send something to the UK than in Canada--rediculous I know but true. I sent a package to England for $5.50 and a package to BC (the other side of the country!! and it weighed the same) and it cost me double .) So I dont mind sending to England.
