(Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange

Post by LastingAllure »

IMPORTANT MESSAGE Dec 1, 2014
Hi all!

Just a little reminder that your ornaments should be out in the next day or two at the latest. It is December 1st already

I will be messaging everyone tomorrow when I have my list and badgering them about their ornaments and where they are. Those who fail to send an ornament will be blacklisted for the next exchange, let's hope it doesn't come down to that :( (keep your shipping receipts too as I might have to ask for it for proof)

ETA: If you don't send an ornament you will be highly encouraged to send on the ornament you received, its only fair.

Hi Ladies and Gents! This is just a reminder that we will be holding the annual Christmas Ornament Exchange again this year! (That's 3 years in a row if I count correctly) So dust off those Christmas patterns and bring out the bling and Christmas buttons and start looking for ideas!! :whoop:

The sign up won't be until October but this is just a heads up so everyone who wants to participate can have lots of time to stitch and plan because we all know as soon as September comes everything seems to be happening.

Question...Would people like a theme this year? Like Gingerbread, trees, or Santa, etc. (Suggestions are welcomed) Or would you prefer to do it like the past 2 years and everyone just picks their own ornament pattern? I will say that you have a week (2 depending on how many responses we get) to answer this and we will go with majority :)

Oh and remember I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! :tizzy: :D :whoop:

July 2 2014 UPDATE:

Ok it looks like we are going to do a secret Santa style of exchange! :whoop: With that the sign up date is going to have to be moved up to accommodate this. I am going to say that the deadline for sign up is July 31, 2014. I will create a new thread for the questions. Here is it: http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... 11&t=25791" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank This thread is just for sign up so it is easy to track!! Make sure to include where you are willing to ship.

Copy the last list of names you see and add your name to the bottom! :)

August 1, 2014 UPDATE

So I am going to allow a few more days for people to sign up (it is a long weekend here in Canada)! Love seeing our group form now. The deadline is now August 4! After that I will sort out who is going to send to who and contact you guys individually for your addresses. :)

I don't mind either way - the way I did it last year was to message the person I was sending to and ask them if they had any strong dislikes, or if they especially liked anything and chose a pattern accordingly.

Another fun way to do it might be a secret santa type thing? Everyone signing up can state in their post what their likes/dislikes are and then message the organizer their mailing address. This way nobody knows who their ornament is coming from - could make it a bit more exciting - not that getting a stitched gift isn't exciting enough! Just a thought! I've participated in secret pal type swaps before and they're loads of fun. The most elaborate one spanned 6 months, and we sent out a minimum of 3 packages over that time, dropping hints about our identity. My pal even shipped my packages from 3 very different parts of the country just to throw me off their trail incase I figured it out from the postmark.

I like this suggestion! I would like to see what people like/dislike and then surprise them. :)

I like the secret santa idea, posting likes/dislikes. if it is going to be that way sign ups should be much sooner, signing up in October doesnt leave alot of time to find out who you are stitching for, pick a pattern, stitch it, finish it and send it. keeping in mind some postage across oceans can take a while.

Count me in. This will be my third Christmas exchange. Will get to the other thread when I return home. I am accessing remotely and the program is so different now, that I can't seem to do the things I used to do. Please add me to the list. I will ship anywhere. I am a non smoker with no pets; no allergies on my side for receiving.
