Stitchy Mail Art Exchange

Post by NannaB66 »

Hello everyone,

I would like to start a cross stitch Mail art exchange. To see examples of mail art, just google "cross stitch mail art" on google images and you will get the idea. The fabric envelopes may be any size. They may be closed with light stitching, buttons, or even safety pins. And yes, it all goes through the mail, they just hand stamp them and send them on their way.

Here is where you can find a tutorial to create yours!

If your would like to do this, let me know.

What a wonderful fun idea. I couldn't participate right now because I'm a bit snowed under but I'd love to see it happening :applesauce:

It does look like it could be fun but as Mystonique has said I have way to many projects with a load of deadlines so I can not join.

I did this before but ran into problems with the post office since they don't like to accept these due to the machine to sort mails, etc. They prefer to be put into bubbled envelope due to international mailing policy. For the States and in Europe, there is better luck with mail art exchanges than here in Canada. I had to drop out after my second attempt to mail as it is.

I have done one before too and the post office wouldn't accept it because of the machine sorting. I too had to send it in a regular envelope.

I think I would have the same problem here... maybe we can stitch a stamp instead and mail it in an envelop?
Like that we are also sure our stitching won't get too smudged?

I never saw these before, how wonderful. I'm afraid here in the states, even if they did accept the item, the postal service would destroy the art with their machinery. However, what would happen if we could mail the project in a "clear" envelope? Just wondering. Good luck.
