I'm loving the stitches people have posted so far! So spring-y and fun.

I got my pattern from a kit and it was a bit more involved than I initially thought. Sorry it hasn't been sent out yet Donna, but I'm still on track to mail by the 5th! I'm about halfway through back-stitching, then I just have to add a few knots, and add the backing.

Thanks for the update. I hope the remaining back stitching goes well. There's still plenty of time until June 5th.

I have exchanged a few pm with lillybit who has been sick enough to warrant a couple of hospital visits. She has, however, managed to mail a stitchery to Serinde this week. She is also tickled pink  with the bookmark sent by mags and mentioned it arrived with a beautiful card. Mags, if you took a picture of the bookmark before you mailed it, please feel free to add a picture in the thread.

lillybit - we hope you are well soon. :balloons:

Thank you for that Linda Rose. I am sorry Lillybit has been unwell. I am pleased that she likes my bookmark. Here are pics. I have included a photo of the back to show a different way of finishing a bookmark. Oh and I stitched the card because I was on a roll at the time :D

Oh Mags how wonderful what a beautiful bookmark and card! I love the stitched back too! Did you do two equal pieces and then double sticky tape them together? I've never done bookmarks before and would love some tips on how to do them.

I'm so sorry to hear about Lillybit not being well I hope she's OK and feels better soon!

Beautiful bookmark and card!

I mailed mine to Sally 11 days ago - it must be taking the long way.

Thanks everyone. :D

Nicola
No sticky involved.
Just two pieces of aida (bigger than finished size) - running stitched together, then cut to size and frayed.
It is a bit fiddly to do.
Also if one piece is heavily stitched and the other not, then the tension of each piece will be slightly different - steam pressing helps a bit.
When cutting and fraying, it is better to cut and fray each side separately (yes, fiddly  )

Mags they are both amazing and oh so beautifully stitched. What a great idea to finish the back with another piece of aida. Well Done. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

I think this is correct now and catches us up to today. I think it is the last time I will try to add to the current page of thread. Updates will appear on first page only now. Three days post op has me feeling the pain and though I am enjoying the pain killers, they leave me a little loopy in the brain...not conducive to making edits and finding the right colors.

Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful weekend.

Oh I am sorry I missed wishing you well after your surgery Linda Rose. I tend to read stuff on my phone and post later when on the pc and of course I regrettably forget stuff  I hope that you are doing well.

Thanks mags and Squirrel! I am doing OK. I'm not very good with crutches so hubby got me a cute little knee scooter to get around with. He will be home with me all next week so that is very nice. Though sleepy from meds I have picked up some stitching patterns from time to time. I think I'll try a small hardanger card soon - perhaps even this afternoon. There are some real benefits to not being able to weight bear!

Debby's quirky wonderful card is here, arrived about an hour ago and I know just whom to send it to too. So here it is.

Image

I have been trying for 2 days to stitch a 'silly' card for a dear friend who has finally moved out own her own, so far with little success. I will keep trying to use up odd bits of 18 ct aida and trying to fit in 2 separate motifs into the space is proving difficult. According to the charts it should fit admirably but somehow it won't
sooooo HEAPS OF THANKS DEBBY YOU ARE A :stars:. Not only will Christine enjoy the subject matter she will appreciate the beautiful even stitching too as she is a master quilter.
Your timing is absolutely spot on.

Awwww how wonderful and beautifully stitched Debby! I have a couple of similar designs in my stash but not this one! That's great Sally that you have the perfect recipient for it. Lucky them! :applesauce:
