Hello there :)

Post by moogypop »

Decided after a days lurking that I should introduce myself..

Hello I'm Laura! :)

I was taught to stitch as a child by my grandmother but stopped doing it in my teens. Ive recently started stitching again as my grandmother passed away and I would like to finish her final WIP and have it framed. As it is a rather large DMC white rose and I am out of practice though I bought a couple to try and get back into the swing of things and Im hooked on stitching once more!

Im still not comfortable enough to work on my grandmothers rose but I have recently started the bothy threads dictionary of cakes piece which to this date will be the largest Ive done. Eeek! Im sure there will be photos to follow!

Other useless information about me is that I am twenty one, from scotland and I absoloutley LOVE Audrey Hepburn :)

 Hi Laura! Welcome to the forum from South Carolina! What a great and touching reason to return to stitching. Sounds like your Grandmother was very special. Look forward to seeing your work. I'm sure you will feel confident in no time at all to complete your Grandmother's WIP.

Welcome from the West (of Scotland, that is)! If you are working on a Bothy Threads design, I think you've stepped past the "working yourself back into it" phase!

Greetings from Colorado.

I think it is wonderful that you will finish your grandmother's last project...it will be something that will be treasured forever in your family.

And it's hard not to love Audrey Hepburn, isn't it?

 Hello and welcome to the forum! Maybe it won't take you very long and you'll feel more comfortable finishing your grandmother's rose. It will be something you will always cherish.

Hi Laura and  Welcome from sunny Brisbane where spring has sprung - if the mad chasing game of kitten and dog are anything to go by.

What a wonderful tribute to your Grandmother to finish her WIP - it sounds like a beautiful design. I am sure you will get back into the swing of things.
Your current WIP - Dictionary of Cakes is being done by our Rose too. :D :applesauce: :applesauce:

Welcome to the forum!
I, like you, have a WIP that was being worked on by my grandmother that passed away last spring. It's not cross stitch but an embroidered dish towel! I grew up using her towels and never once stopped to enjoy her handiwork until a few years ago. I have only dabbled in embroidery but as soon as I feel like I'm good enough, I will finish her towel...the last one in a set.
I'm sure in no time at all you will do a wonderful job on your grandmother's project!
