Hi all,

I'm looking for a HUGE pattern that I think is named "Spring". I remember seeing the finished piece in the mid 90's. Someone I worked with had a friend that came by to show it to her. I don't even know the designer, but it was a beautiful field-type setting with flowers and I think some birds, bugs, butterflies and other creatures. I do remember that it was a very high stitch count and took a long time to finish. I'd appreciate any insight you can provide! Thanks!

Sounds like a pattern you might find in the stables of Heaven and Earth Designs or Scarlett Quince which specialise in these huge and ultra multi-coloured pieces. Presume you've googled it and all that stuff?

This was a design on I think 18/22 count fabric, joblan or lugana. The stitch count was high but not impossibly high. It's driving me crazy. It was designed by an individual...no company name...

I need a good hypnotist.

Could it have been designed by Paula Vaughn? I did an afghan once with her designs and though I chose mostly floral arrangements in baskets or garden specific themes, seems to me there were quite a few other booklets of her designs filled with what you are describing. I gave my charts to a friend, but if you haven't checked her designs it might be worth the time. I hope you find what you are looking for. It must have been beautiful to have stuck with you all this time!

That's gonna be a tough one, I think, because that's from back when out-of-print still meant really out-of-print and the designer may not be around anymore. You can try Hoffmans (hoffmandis.com). They're a distributor, they don't sell to the public, but you can browse the charts to see if you find what you're looking for. If you find it and can get the name of the designer, that'll go a long way to help locate the chart. (I tried searching for "spring" in the Hoffman search function, but it turned up 15 pages of charts. I'll let you go through them since you know what it looks like.)

You can also try Cyberstitches (http://www.cyberstitchers.com/patterns_directory" target="_blank). They have a database with a lot of older patterns in it. It's worth a look.

Do you remember the dimensions? One person's 'impossibly high stitch count' is just the norm for some folks here, so even if you don't remember the stitch count or the fabric count, the dimensions might be helpful.

Also, here is a long list of designers. The list probably has folks who are current and if your designer isn't around anymore, she might not be here, but.....if the designer is on the list, seeing the name might jog your memory:
