Looking for this chart...or kit

Post by Lynne61 »

I am looking for a chart or kit i saw some years ago. Any clue would be useful as i have exhausted every avenue of searching and am now doubting my own memory !
Ok....it is of a scruffy schoolboy dressed in i would say 40's or 50's clothes. Shorts and i think braces. He is leaning up against a wall with his right leg up and the flat of his foot against the wall. I think he has conkers hanging out of his pockets and there are school books on the floor (i think they have string around them).
It is in a similar fashion to the "In trouble again" by DMC from their Paintbox Poppets range they did some years ago.
I think it was quite popular at the time and i am hoping someone else remembers it as well

I can't think what this might be, but someone around here might have something helpful to offer. :ribbit:

That sounds familiar. Was it an art-to-stitch conversion? I keep thinking of a series of paintings by Paul Charles Chocarne-Moreau that featured mischievous boys. I have a picture in my head that could be described exactly as you did, but I can't really place it. Was he smoking a cigarette?

I was also wondering if it is an art to stitch conversion. Norman Rockwell is one that popped in my mind. I thought if it was more classic it could be a Scarlet Quince or HAED or Mystic Stitch or Golden Kite. Doing a search trying to describe this gets all kinds of images. Very few of which were schoolboys. There is probably the right connection of words that would work, but I haven't figured them out.

Trying to think of this. Sure I've seen something similar. Was the overall picture tone yellow-ish? If so, I think I vaguely remember the picture, and think it was on a specialist model engineering book catalogue cover a few years ago - so not a lot of help for a stitch kit!

Richard

I bought a chart in the late 1980's that was called, "
Why a Teddy Bear is a a Cross stitcher's best friend. It fell apart on me. Does anyone have a copy? I am working on my ten posts so I can view the Gallery. This is number five.
