Re: 2024 Deliveries & Stash Acquisition

A Singer Sewing Machine that is white ? Whatever is the world coming to? Going to the dogs, I tell you. Going to the dogs. Looks like a nice little machine. Does it have a decent carry case? My mum's singer from the 50's had a pretty heavy plywood hood that went over the top. Was sturdy, but it made...

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

Ozzie is a terror for chewing tinsel. One year, when aged 2 or 3, he got hold of streamers of magenta tinsel, 8-10" long. They mostly passed right through, but with a couple the last couple of inches remained inside and we ended up chasing him round the house with a lump of tissue in our hands....

Lining paper

(On the last house I had with Lath & Plaster walls, the plaster was 100 years old and needed lining paper to hold it together and reduce the chance of it falling off.)

Re: 2024 The Smile for Today

Oh dear. Silly creatures. Really amusing though. Reminds me of a couple of stories my parents told me. They had been posted to Kuala Lumpur in 1960 and had army quarters. They also had a dog, and agreed to look after a cat for a pilot from the flight who was visiting the UK for a few weeks. On the f...

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

Yesterday our 18.5 year old cat 'Squeaky' had a repeat of an unpleasant problem. He passed a horrible blood -feces slurry, and it was obviously agony, to the point he screamed in pain. He also has three lumps and his body. His kidneys are failing, and he is very arthritic when it's cold. We got an a...

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

Our MP has spoken 4 times in Parliament since 2019, and has 8 references in the official House of Commons transcript Hansard (I searched Hansard for his name and constituency name so as not to miss anything). He seems to have spoken about 3 sentences a year. So his 'work' is costing us all about £30...

Or lots of hair glue for keeping the tresses in order...

Wisteria is one of the wonders of gardening. It's such a shame the flowers are out for such a short time, and the plant is pretty uninteresting when in leaf.

Mandolin

(For some reason I always associate them with Greece, even though it'd not an exclusively Greek instrument.)

Re: 3D Rendering

It's getting to that time of year when Wisteria comes out. While it's lovely over the front of houses, it's mind blowingly spectacular growing over hoops in a Wisteria walk. I think there's one at RHS Wisley, but I've never been when it's in bloom. I imagine it must be a bit like this: https://www.d...

Going to be a bit catty here for a laugh: Their reflection in the mirror.)

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

The last thing MIL said that caused concern , was that she'd run out of her blood pressure, anti-dizziness and heart drugs (and the four needed to counteract side-effects of the first three). Instant panic on behalf of the carers who phoned Tracy. No. MIL hasn't run out. MIL just 'forgot' the pile o...
