Re: Faded section in big project
Secure a piece of panty-hose over the open end of your vacuum cleaner hose and try to vacuum the stitching first. That should give you an indication if it's a build up of dust - if you see a difference in color, then I'd try to wash it to see what happens. If it is actually fading, I think I'd take ...

Re: How DOES DMC determine its numbering system?
I have no idea about the numbering system but was recently wondering why charters don't use a standard symbol for each DMC colour. It would make life so much easier for those of us doing multiple projects. Well, if Richard's theory is correct, I guess the same sort of logic would apply. If there we...

How DOES DMC determine its numbering system?
I've finally gotten around to folding in a large amount of floss given to me by the family when a relative passed away last year. As I've been doing this, I wonder all over again - how in the world does DMC determine what number it assigns to its colors? WHY do they skip large blocks of numbers? WHY...

Re: magnifiers
I have the one that goes around your neck and rests on your chest. It works fine. But I also find cheaters/reading glasses work just as well as long as I have good lighting. I use +2.00 or +2.50 to stitch but only need +1.50 or +1.75 to read - so I have A LOT of reading glasses stashed all over (sti...

Re: How many projects in rotation have you got?
I'm a one project at a time girl - with a few caveats. I might have a quilt project AND a cross stitch project going together. And, I usually have an easy (less than 20 colors and a one page chart) cross stitch in a bag ready to go in case of an emergency. That way, if I have to go somewhere that my...

Re: Hardanger Cushion Cover FINISHED!!
That is so bright and cheerful! When you say cushion cover, do you mean seat cushion? I'm not sure I could bring myself to sit on it, it's so pretty!
Re: Riolis
I finished the tiger that's kind of looking over its shoulder (I can't remember the name) a while back. Their kits are generous with the thread, I had plenty left over. It is different using the wool blend - "fluffier" is maybe the word. The whole piece feels thicker?/heavier? than my usua...

Photobucket and 3rd Party Image Hosting?
The internet is losing it's mind over Photobucket's new policy regarding "3rd Party Image Hosting." What the heck is that? Will it affect our ability to post pictures within this forum? Is there a way to post pictures directly from our phones/tablets/computers without using Photobucket or ...

Re: How do you organise your crafty supplies?
It must be that time of year. I'm currently in the middle of switching our guest bedroom and the sewing room. Over the last 3 weeks, I've piled EVERYTHING from both rooms into the dining room so whatever little (very little) organization I had going on was completely trashed. The old sewing room (no...

Re: I must be going soft in the head.......
I haven't ever tried to incorporate knitting, but I have used cross stitched pieces, t-shirts, and sweat shirts to make quilts. You will probably have a few issues so planning ahead will be crucial. You will need to back any squares that aren't of solid material (like Aida or evenweave) with a light...

Re: DMC Shade cards
I have the book with the actual thread samples. I use it all the time, especially if I'm using a kit. I always lay the provided thread against the sample to verify the color in case I need to buy more. I've never had a DMC thread not match. When the kit doesn't provide DMC threads, I use it make the...

Riolis Lace pillow pattern
http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p440/DisneyStitcher/IMG_1577_zpsxx5nxsfb.jpg Does anyone know if this pattern can be had as the pattern only and not as a kit? It is put out by Riolis and is showing as "Viennese Lace Pillow" in the magazine I have. So far I can only find it as a kit, an...
