Oh, I know how that is!

I guess I would put it onto a frame or a roller, rather than risk using a hoop. How big is your hoop?

I've never worked with silk floss. Sounds like this is a very special project. What is it?

Well, Miss Plum, rub it in! We in the Northern Hemisphere are some combination of cold, wet, icy, grey-skyed. However, the snowdrops are up and there are even some benighted crocus in one of my flowerbeds -- a touch early... Keep us informed on how you get on with the Amish Farm. If you want to know...

Greetings, Larsan. I have done a bit of work on linen, and I agree that it's a wonderful fabric to work with. I usually use a frame, but have recently been using a 6" hoop on a bellpull with Cashel linen. I haven't had any problem with it so far, but I always, always take the hoop off when I'm ...

Too true! The only time I get to stitch to my heart's content is when I'm away on holiday, and that's usually only for a week. Otherwise I find that I have to do all the chores, and 'proper' working, before I can relax. I don't know about anyone else, but the dust in my house whispers to me when I'm...

Purple-FP, Where do you find the time?! I seem to have so much to do. Or, alternatively, I'm a slow stitcher and disorganised... :? Quite possible!

Purple-Footprints, you're right, it's absolutely quicksand. Which is why, I suppose, so many lawyers work in the copyright field. If you have legally bought the kit or chart, you have a right to make it as many times as you wish. For yourself or to give away. Most designers don't mind if you stitch ...

Yipes! I have changed the wording, as you can see. Of course, THIS site would never encourage illegality.

Bagpuss, I've emailed Alex as instructed, ma'am.

I can't usually stay on line for lengths of time -- have to earn a living! -- so I can only drop in and out during the day. However, I rarely resist sticking my oar in!

The forum should have a map with pins in so we can see at a glance the forum spreading around the world!

I'm not very familiar with Mouline threads, but I came across this. Is it any help at all?

Welcome to our Lithuanians! This is very exciting. We are becoming very cosmopolitan, which is great.

Don't ever, ever worry about your English. Just have fun "talking" to everyone.

Here's a question for you all: to vilene or not to vilene? I have a assisi bellpull I would like to hang again. I ironed it, and then slip stitched it on to the fancy ends, but it doesn't hang very well. (Making up the project has never been my strong suit; I really like to stitch, not sew...) It's ...

Surely if you have bought the design from the owner, there is no breach of copyright to stitch it as many times as you like. Buying must purchase the permission. It almost seems as if the cross-stitch copy site is emulating what happened with music and downloads (Napster and all of that). Hope she's...

A paragon! Not only little people to look after, but worried if more than 2 WIPs are hanging around. In my experience, women like you tend to quietly run the world.

Did I give the wrong impression? I'm not a student (or at least, not for a Very Long Time). I run an editorial business from home which means I feel glued to my computer. Started when boys were little as a way of being at home and, when they were in school, not to go nuts. Or, well, more nuts. :roll...

Hi Harsha My two teenage boys aren't into needlework, and not particularly into their revision either (it's exam season here in the UK). I've never been to Singapore, although friends have and thought it was beautiful. What sort of stitching is your favourite? Do you find sourcing materials easy? Is...
