Re: fccs’s Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer 03/19/2024

I just finished Santa Claus. The chart calls for single strand backstitching but it just doesn’t show up well so I’m using two strands for all of it. I’ll run out of some floss in the kit but I have a Dimensions to DMC conversion so it’s not a big deal. (If I was doing the kit as designed, using the...

Re: Stupid bobbins

I gave up on plastic bobbins. Like Serindë mentioned, I couldn’t get the end of the floss to stay in the little slot. Stickers wouldn’t adhere and my Sharpie didn’t take well to the plastic. I went back to the light cardboard ones - to the point of winding from the plastic to the cardboard. That’s h...

I love seeing the embroidery grow. I tried my hand at it years (decades) ago and wasn’t very good at it.

Re: Supernatural Cross stitch

I love that she’s giving it a go. She can just do however many stitches she wants before she feels the need to move on. Just like your project, every stitch is progress, right?? I think it’s important for all kids (and adults) to have a hobby of some kind that allows them to focus on something else,...

Re: fccs’s Book of Mythical Creatures 2/29/2024

I think this is the third time I’ve used the easy count and the lines do wash out, with a lot of soaking in hot water. For full coverage pieces, it’s just so much easier than gridding by hand. As for the chocolate, yes. Spangler’s draglings love chocolate and it’s featured in many designs. I just lo...

fccs’s Book of Mythical Creatures 5/1/2024

For my birthday start, I am doing a story keep from Randal Spangler. It’s a SAL with a friend who also started a Spangler design today, Leap Day. I’m stitching it on 25 count easy count, and this is what the design should look like when finished: https://i.postimg.cc/9XpKvG0J/IMG-0048.jpg And this i...
