Re: How to keep your stitches neat?

Thanks for explaining what railroading is. It sounds complicated ! I find that if I stitch half crosses one way then go back and cross them the other way, it keps my stitches neat. I hope to pick up some tips myself as I come back to crosstitching.

Re: How to keep your stitches neat?

I use a small 5 inch plastic hoop and that helps a lot with the tension of the stitches. Those wooden hoops that you have to tighten don't work for me.I also drop my needle and thread every so often so it unwinds itself a bit, and that helps with stitch neatness. I don't stitch overly tight but I ma...

Re: Suggestions for a Newbie!!

The best advice i ever got was when someone was watching me do a little project in a waiting room and i was struggling to knot my thread in the back. She said "give it to me and I will show you how to start a new color without knotting your thread." She took a single strand of thread folde...

Re: Washing Finished Projects

I have always handwashed my projects. I think it helps shrink the holes up or brighten the colors or something. I just use Woolite or Delicare and warm water in the sink and let it sit and swish it around, gently rinse it and dry it in a towel. I remember something about doing a white vinegar wash a...

Re: Does Anybody Recognize This Picture #2

You were right about it looking like P. Buckley Moss. It seems like June Grigg designed crosstitch patterns of pictures by him. My picture is by her, but he looks like he influenced her work.

Re: Does anybody Recognize This Picture?

Found the book on Ebay brand new for $6.00. It is Country Seasons by June Grigg Designs #18. The patterns were beautiful, there were 12, one for every month, lost the book in a move before I could make any more pictures. So glad to have found it again.

I am retiring in August and will finally have some time to work on some projects I have wanted to do since 1987! I have finally located a couple copies of my favorite...
