Re: Sites that Don't Have Products on Hand but Don't Tell yo
Update: I received a very detailed and very apologetic reply from ABC Stitch explaining their current growing pains. I appreciated that, because it puts human experience into the equation. Also, the rep checked on the package's status and told me it is in my local post office. Finally! I may give th...

Sites that Don't Have Products on Hand but Don't Tell you
The ABC stitch saga continues. I placed the order on 11/26, and I only found out that the items were not in stock when I asked when they would ship. The order finally shipped on 12/16. It is apparently lost in the mail, because it was last scanned on 12/19 in New Orleans. Given that ABC Stitch is in...

Re: Sites that Don't Have Products on Hand but Don't Tell yo
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. There are so many places to find supplies online that there really is no excuse for not telling the customer up front something is OOS. I didn't even find out my order was going to take weeks until I wrote to ask them when it would ship. ABC Stitch is now off m...

Sites that Don't Have Products on Hand but Don't Tell you
Hello, there. I ordered something from ABC Stitch. After I ordered the product, I found out that the shop did not have the product in stock and had to order it themselves. It was almost a month before they shipped the product to me. (They also wanted $1.50 for "insurance," saying that they...

Thanks, Reta and Allyn! I'll check out these links. K.
Re: Hello!
Welcome, Lisa. Warning: Cross-stitch is addictive (in case you haven't already figured that out). The good news is there are no calories in it.

Brands of Aida that are SOFT
So, I've finally figured out--after 2.5 years of steady stitching--that my favorite fabric is 18-ct aida, but only if it's soft aida. Right now, for example, I'm working a project on 18-ct Fiddler's aida, which is just perfect. Can anyone recommend other brands of aida that are softish and where I c...

Re: Looking for patterns using black fabric
Thanks for the great suggestions, everyone! I hadn't even thought of putting a pattern designed for white fabric on black fabric. Now I realize that I have several patterns that I could easily modify to work very well on black, simply by substituting brighter shades of the original colors.

Looking for patterns using black fabric
I'm stitching Stoney Creek's Western Jewels, which uses bright colors on black fabric, and I've realized I love working on black! Does anyone know of a site that features a lot of patterns with black fabric? THanks!

I did some homework. Here's a link that describes it pretty well, although the article itself is kinda wordy.

Cutting linen fabric
Hi--I bought a large piece of 28-ct linen recently and need to cut some of it off for a project. I know that with linen, you're supposed to pull out one thread to make the line you cut is straight. Does anyone know how to do this? Or am I mistaken about how to cut linen in the first place? Thanks! :...

Re: 28-ct Aida!
Yes, that's it exactly, Mabel! I started laughing when I saw your link because I was in Joann last night and took a picture of it on the shelf, just to make sure I hadn't been hallucinating when I bought it.:) Whatever it is, I absolutely love it. Just the right amount of give and stiffness. I hope ...

Re: 28-ct Aida!
Packaging says Aida. Charles craft, Carolina linen Aida is what it said. I found more online, but it's not common.

Re: 28-ct Aida!
It's an even weave, not a block weave. It's abit like canvas but it has linen in it, so it's not that stiff.

Re: 28-ct Aida!
I'm stitching 2 over 2, just like regular 28 ct. Now that i've handled it for a few stitching sessions, I have to say it's got a very interesting feel to it--soft, like linen, but firm, like aida. A very nice blend.

28-ct Aida!
I was in Joann the other night and found 28-ct AIDA cross stitch fabric, which I've never seen before. The maker is Charles Craft, and the model was "Carolina Linen." I'm using it for a project I just started, and I love it! It's got all the great things about even weave, but still a littl...

Re: Softening up aida?
Yeah, it's just a matter of personal preference. For me, cross-stitching is just as much about the tactile sensations as it is about color, so I think the softness. But I think stiff fabric is useful for certain projects.

That's a good idea. I'll try that.
