Normally it's like Iraq around us on bonfire night but this year it was quieter - bad weather or lack of cash, I don't know.

Our cat never bothered with them but my niece has to sedate her dog at this time of the year.

I'd love a tattoo but I've got a serious fear of needles (except cross stitch ones of course!).

My OH has 7, he had his first 25 years ago and they still look amazing.

Are we limited to craft books or is it any book?

I've just rejoined our local library - I can get through 8 books a week when Mum isn't sleeping well - someone recommended Sophie Hannah, I've read Little Face and Hurting Distance, both very good with amazing twists at the end.

Thank you all - the freezer is done, took ages and I'd got frostbite by the end of it - serves me right for leaving it so long, I had to thaw out in the bath afterwards

I've a half sister who is 16 years older than me - she's a crafter but not a stitcher.

My other 'sister' is my best friend Debs, she's a fantastic stitcher and more of a sister than my real one has ever been

Thank you all so much for your lovely birthday wishes.
