Re: 2024 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub

Beleaguered bunny is safely back from being professionally photographed for Stitch Magazine - can we get him a carrot juice to celebrate :-) ?

Re: Mabel's RSN Certificate - canvas

Ha, I'm getting quite good at them as pretty much every bit of this blinking canvas is covered in blends of some sort, some of them made up of three or four colours. After this I am going to do something with blocks of solid colour!

Oh Jo how frightening for your mum, and for you! I would never have thought you could get heatstroke at such a low temperature.

I hope your therapeutic stitching helps you to cool down sufficiently for some more gardening when the heat dies down.

Re: Mabel's RSN Certificate - canvas

The stitch itself is easy enough - it's the constantly changing blends that make it so labour-intensive. Sometimes I'm lucky to do two or three stitches in the same blend, and I think the total different blends is now over 10  . It makes it impossible to get into a rhythm, which is what you w...

Re: Mabel's RSN Certificate - canvas

A little progress, and a FoF!

A poor squashed tulip has been inflated to its full height, some of the paving has been spruced up and a new bit of paving has been added.

Re: Serinde lives up to her name update 29 May 2024

This definitely beats sudokus, much as I enjoy those - they are not nearly so decorative

In my canvaswork I have to realise that I simply cannot be as detailed and "painterly" as I could be in surface embroidery or even fine cross stitch, and I am finding it really hard!

which I think all mothers should get. I got my two ready-made, and although I would have liked to have my "own", this is one aspect of it that I'm not too sorry about missing out on...

BTW Richard, do I detect a Pyramids reader there?

Re: 2024 Deliveries & Stash Acquisition

Your friend's story made me rather sad - I hope he is enjoying what he has as much as possible now! DH is always happy for me to spend money on my hobby, or books, or he likes to take me out, but I grew up on a very tight budget being raised by a single mother in a council flat and I still find it d...

If they are just what you needed, then it is worth both the wait and the outlay. As hobbies go, ours is hardly a very extravagant one, so the odd bit of indulgence is quite defensible!

That's a really interesting impression of the photo, I like the way you have sort of distilled it down to its essence.

Re: Mabel's RSN Certificate - canvas

No homework done in between classes at all (life, eh?) but I nearly completed the pavement while at my class. It was slow going because it contains 9 different blends of colours, and I miscounted in one place so had to unpick and re-stitch  but I'm happy with the way it interprets the photo! h...

Re: 2024 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub

Jo, I know this is the cross stitch forum but over the past years the members have been really kind to me and others as we've posted projects in other techniques - I think as long as it's done with a needle and thread it's allowed! And of course we have the All Other Crafts section for things not do...
