Lizzie*Kate Merry Little Bird - Need Help

Seems I'm always asking for help with one thing or another. One of these days I hopefully will be of help to someone else : ) Has anyone made this Lizzie*Kate Merry Little Bird ornament? I can't for the life of me figure out how to finish it! There are some directions, including a drawing showing yo...

Sewing Chenille Trim

Can anyone explain to me how to attach chenille trim around a pillow-type pincushion with a ladder stitch? That is all the directions tell me. I know what a ladder stitch is ... I just can't envision how to attach a chenille trim with this stitch. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as always : ) ...

Is anyone familiar with this Shepherd's Bush chart?

I saw this ornament posted on someone's blog & fell in love with the design. I wrote to the blog owner who told me where she thought she had purchased it. However, when I contacted that company they did not recognize the design. It is definitely a Shepherd's Bush design but for some reason SB do...

Need to Do Long Stitches - Need Help/Assurance

If you have the JCS 2011 ornaments issue I am working the Christmas Cat Tree by Brittercup Designs, the pattern of which is on page 42. The directions indicate that the cat's whiskers & eyes are to be done in long stitch. I've never done long stitch before but I get the concept. What I don't get...

Light/Magnification Help Wanted

I do so love to stitch but the only place I can do so is in my recliner next to my Daylight magnifying lamp which clamps onto a nearby table. I am unable to follow a chart or make my stitches on any size of fabric without magnification. I am going to be heading out of town today, not returning until...

Re: Any CS Shops in Cincinnati?

Thanks Mechie! I've actually been to the Stitch Niche a few times : ) We live about 10 miles from Harrodsburg & need to travel to Lexington at least a couple times a month. It's a nice shop although if the owner is there she will really grate on your nerves. Most of the employees, however, are f...

Any CS Shops in Cincinnati?

I'm going to be in Cincinnati tomorrow afternoon (Sunday), returning home Monday afternoon. I've done a search but can't seem to find any CS shops in the area. I'll be traveling from KY on I-75 & then heading to the Blue Ash area on I-71. Are there any CS shops worth stopping at along that route...

Storing Linen

I remember from my knitting days that you aren't supposed to store wool in plastic bins. Is it okay to store linen fabrics in these bins? I really don't have another choice in the matter except maybe just tossing the fabrics into a cardboard box. Is it okay to protect these linen fabrics & keep ...

Blocking Linen - Is it necessary? If so, how?

Is blocking necessary when you have finished stitching something on linen? I've not blocked anything before but am wondering, after a recent experience, if I should do so. If I use Aida or evenweave, I can sew around the item ... to make a pillow for instance ... by following along one row on each s...

Inventorying

Life has been rather upside down around here lately. My husband has not been feeling well for a while now & suddenly his symptoms started to get worse. I ended up taking him to the local ER 2 weeks ago after he blacked out. They admitted him & did tests although not one they should have done...

Marilyn ... I am locked in to making it a hanging type of ornament for a Christmas tree. I like that mounting on a cushion idea though ... will have to give that a try with a future project : )

Where Do I Go from Here?

I have finished the ornament that was causing me so much grief : ) http://inlinethumb60.webshots.com/48187/2446370210049531982S425x425Q85.jpg It actually looks pretty good! Unfortunately I now do not know what to do with it. The unstitched linen surrounding the design measures just about 1-1/2"...

Re: Can You Mix Cross Stitch Techniques?

I'm sorry I haven't thanked everyone for their comments prior to now. My husband ended up in the hospital for a couple days so my mind was elsewhere. I have continued to do a bit of stitching since he returned home but I don't know ... something isn't right. The border where I did the single stitche...

Can You Mix Cross Stitch Techniques?

I've never been presented with this problem in all the years I've cross stitched. Right now I'm working on an ornament & I started with the border. I usually make my cross stitches by working the bottom part of the stitch across the row to the right like so ///// & then making my way back ov...

Re: Is It Worth It To Bother With Copyrights?

I finally heard back from the US Copyright Office. Things are as clear as mud now. I've already stated what they say on their website. Here is what I asked them in an email along with their response: Me: If someone places a copyright notice on their craft pattern but they have not registered a copyr...
