Re: Can You Mix Cross Stitch Techniques?
As most have said it could most likely be tension. I have noticed a difference with some threads and I think it is depending on some of the dyes. I've noticed some colors are fluffier. I really had a noticable change on my Mirabilia Christmas Elegance which I did in silk. One particular green was ve...

Re: Lacemaker2004/Christmas Elegance DONE!!
Hi Stitchers, well I figured I needed to post the picture here. Christmas Elegance is finally done (but not framed yet). She's done on hand-dyed Dragon's Moon in silks. The silks were very nice to use but very difficult to get matching skeins, even across the same dyelot. Some colors were so radical...

Re: evenweave or linen
I actually have the right sized waterlily in 32 in my stash and was planning on using it but just thought gridding the linen would be difficult. I may just stagger the letters and eyeball it. All three are slightly different sizes.
Do the letters stitch up fast?

Re: Weight F-loss!!
Hi Just catching up on the thread. Congrats to all on your reductions! And keep the faith if you are at a plateau. It will shift. As for me, I've now lost a total of 41 pounds which is a bit more than I should have...divorce helped with that...but I feel great and going to the gym three times a week...

evenweave or linen
Hi I'm looking at a mirabilia letter project but want to do all three of my initials together. So I need to grid the fabic first which I've never done. I was wondering if anyone has used 18 count linen or 20 ct evenweave before and how it looks? Especially the linen. Does it look big and open? How a...

Re: I don't what to do!
I'm sending you hugs and hope it all turns out well. I agree with mags, wait and talk with your brother for the details. I can tell you that I have a half sister from dad's first marriage (four years older than me) and while we don't always see eye to eye and we didn't grow up together and it's only...
Re: Dye Lots
I've also had more trouble with threads that were bought at different times (like years). The colors was spot on but the shade was lighter. I have had a terrible time even within a dyelot with the silks. The AVAS is terrible and needs to be checked VERY carefully. One was so bad that they vibrancy w...

Re: Black needles
Midge is right, it's the acidity in your skin. It may be an allergy too. Had a friend that was allergic to some metals. The gold or plattinum plated may last better for you.

Re: John James twin pointed needles - sew faster??
I did try them and didn't like them. I did't find that they helped me stitch faster though I tend to stitch in hand, not on a frame, and I kept poking myself with them.

Re: How do you organize your floss?
I'm a bobbin girl too. The DMC and the Anchor are stored separately, Anchor in those boxes with dividers and the DMC in an antique thread cabinet. The rest of my threads it depends. Things that are odd sized like RBG or perle cotton are stored in plastic ziplocks, divided by type, size or use. My la...

I'm impressed with your circle. I always worry about those things that need to come together from two points.

Re: Unwanted knots
I'll dangle too but when I get one and I catch it before it's pulled tight then i gently pinch it and pull it toward the knot while holding the leading end of the thread. It kind of stablizes the knot and gives the right pressure to pull the kink out.
