Re: Disney dreams question

Gridding has been extremely helpful for me when working on Cinderella Wishes Upon a Dream. It's the biggest project I've ever done so it really helps me to keep on track. I also use one of those purple marking pens to plan out what I'm going to be stitching. The combination of the gridding and marki...

Re: Calling lovers of Blackwork!

I just started saving these patterns, but I've never done blackwork before. Is it that much different that regular stitching? Any tips for a beginner?

Looking great!! :applesauce: And best of all, you've learned this most important rule about cross stitching.... have fun!! If you aren't having fun, then it's time to put it down. Find what makes you happy and do it with your whole heart. You won't be disappointed!

Re: Lakeside Village, work in progress from newbie

If you hadn't said you were a beginner, I never would have guessed! You are doing a wonderful job! As far as how to start your thread, I can't recommend the loop method enough. Yeah, your threads will be shorter and you'll have to start more often, but it really helps keep the back of your project n...

I've never seen that blending technique before, but it's very cool! The colors on the black fabric really pop.

Re: Help with higher fabric count

purvislets: I know this thread hasn't had activity in a little bit but I'm hoping you will still see this question. I noticed on your project you did the grid pattern with a single thread. I forgot what's it's called but I'm considering learning that since I'm so paranoid about counting. I spend so...

Re: Walt Disney World's Epcot: update 2/13/14

Awesome project! I have to admit that MK is my favorite park, but I've grown to really love EPCOT in recent years. When I was a kid it was definitely my least favorite because back then it really lacked in rides. Now as an adult I can appreciate the different lands to explore, food and drinks to try...

Re: How do you make neat backs?

I'll admit that I am a bit obsessed with the backs of my projects as well. I know that most of the time they will never be seen (let alone thought about) by anyone but me, but being as neat as possible is important to me. I always loop start whenever possible and only carry thread over long distance...

Re: Gridding

Hopefully I can find a gridding technique that I truly enjoy one of these days. Ok I have to ask, does anyone here actually "enjoy" gridding? I enjoy the results of it but the gridding itself is laborious tedious soporific awfulness. I'm with you on that. The actual task of griddin...

Re: Gridding

purvislets, what kind of fishing line did you use? It's a 4lb red monofilament line that I got at either Gander mountain or Walmart. I can't remember the exact brand and it's unfortunately been packed away in a box somewhere and I'm not sure exactly where. The 4lb was the smallest that I could find...

Re: Gridding

Nice example of gridding, purvislets. Showing that and explaining makes it much easier to understand. Nice job on both example and your work. Thank you so much! :D It's definitely been a learning experience. That's one of the things I love about this craft... you constantly learn new techniques and...

Re: Cindrella Wishes Upon A Dream *Sept 30 -- Page 15*

Just a quick update. I'm still struggling to find time for stitching so I haven't completed as much as I wish I could have on this. To top it off, we have our house on the market so my days are spent trying to keep it spotless with 3 kids running around and my camera decided to die, so I'm using my ...

Beautiful update! I'm glad to hear the french knots went so well for you. They scare me so I'm hoping to find that I don't hate them as much as I fear.
