Re: HAED The light of the world - 3rd April
I don't think I am the only one who thinks this is just truly impressive! :applesauce: I'm going to be really rude as I am really curious, what does the back look like? I don't mind messy backs at all, and I'm not really after a picture or anything. I'm just curious if I need to be even more jealous...

Hi Maddie,
Welcome from the UK.
I also like colourful designs. I mostly get them online but will keep an eye out in the thrift/charity shops in future.

Re: Tips for stitching on evenweave
I've been using gold 28s for my 28count. I have some steel 26s that work as well but don't slide as easily through the fabric. They don't open the hole too much. I don't have any 24s to check for you. I have some 22s but they are way to big for normal stitching on 28 count. I did use them for griddi...

Re: Joanna's current works - HAED start!!
I've been working steadily away at my bookshelf for the last 6 weeks. As I can start identifying features I thought it was time for an update. This is 36 colours complete in this bottom right corner. Working Area is 3 pages up (2 and a partial) by 6ish pages across. I have stitched into the next pag...

Re: How far away do you place your pin stitches?
Yes.
Definitely meaning as a starting/ending of a thread. Where the pinhead is later covered by other full or half crosses. Not where it is a stitch in its own right.

How far away do you place your pin stitches?
Starting... Do you place the pin stitch immediately underneath the first stitch or place it a short distance away so that it can be covered by other stitches? Ending...Do you place the pin stitches immediately next to your last stitch or do you place it a short distance away so that it can be covere...

Re: 2018 Deliveries & Stash Acquisitions
Mabel, looks like you are going to be happily busy for the foreseeable future!
I do think you should consider changing the top photo so that you hide your address on the parcel. Just thinking of all those Nigerian princes and insurance scammers out there.

Re: Hi All
Edit - oh, and welcome  - edit I found "thethreadshop" on ebay selling dmc in the UK in batches of 10 to 100 (in tens). About £0.56 per skein. I think there was more of a discount if you ordered more skeins. You could select the number and colour of the skeins by sending a message wi...

When do you tunnel?
I'm curious what everyone has to say about tunnelling your thread under previous stitches, especially when travelling. On my previous projects up to 22 count, I always tunnelled my thread if travelling any distance more than 2 or 3 stitches (already given that up on the 28 count HAED  ). I also...

Re: Framing question
Re the edges mentioned by Serinde. Just thinking out loud. No clue if it is feasible. You could always have a very thin (or wide, up to you) metal band around the edge of the glass to close it up. Potential to have it engraved/embossed with some sort of pattern. Thinking about it, could even be wood...

Re: Joanna's current works - Update 4 Feb 2018
Thanks Mabel.
Looking at the diagram, I realise I already do that sometimes. Either for individual stitches or the end of the line.
Good to know I have already figured out a recognised method
