Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
I found the cutest little designs through a FB post yesterday. They're a couple of designers from Russia & I'm in love with almost every single pattern they have: http://sa-pattern.com/" target="_blank The bunnies are the cutest things I've ever seen. I also got the "Apple Tea&quo...

Re: magnifiers
I have the floor style LED with a magnifier too and I love it. It also has a bendable arm so I can position it exactly in the right spot, wherever that spot is.

Re: What's the best stitchy purchase you've ever made?
It's got a long name on amazon -- LIGHT IT by Fulcrum 20072-401 12 LED Wireless Magnifier Adjustable Floor Lamp with Adaptor -- but basically it's an LED floor lamp/magnifier with an adjustable arm for positioning. I couldn't live without it, now! My mother came over & loved it so much that she ...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
I just discovered all the free Christmas ornament patterns on the Kreinik website. So of course I just spent $40 kitting them up so really, not free after all. But I couldn't resist the silk thread - I've never stitched with silk before!

Re: Any bookworms out there?
I only read for about 30 minutes before bed, but I also have audiobooks in the car, since I have a long commute every day. Right now, I'm listening to The Year of Living Danishly, a non-fiction book by a woman who moved to Denmark for a year (so far, we'll see if she stays!). I can't say that's the ...

Re: Christmas Stitching
I don't make my own Christmas cards with stitching (I rarely get to cards at all... I always buy them, rarely send them  ) but I am always making Christmas ornament patterns that I put on mason jars -- or now in a hoop frame, my newest skill! They make great gifts. Plus I sell some of them as ...

I love that! It should say "first I drink the coffee and check the crossstitch forum, then I do the things." That's what I'm doing this morning, at work.

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
My third Wrendale Designs kit arrived today. I'm seriously thinking about starting her after I've finished the duck. I know the perfect wall in the other lounge where she could go  https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4223/34972002356_2ce563b3af_z.jpg This is the cutest thing I have ever seen! I neve...

Re: HEAD Too Many Books
Is that a Canada Goose that your DH arrested? I mean saved? They can be very aggressive and even nasty sometimes though it doesn't look like this one put up much resistance. Glad that he is safe at a shelter now. Carole  I was walking at a wildlife refuge a few years ago and a male goose kno...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects
That is particularly beautiful! I love bird patterns. I'm sure it will be well received by your Mom. Is it by any chance part of a series? It is, it's a set of 4 different bluebirds. All really pretty - but this is the one my mom picked. Thank you everybody for the kind words! I also had another fi...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects
Oh that looks lovely, nothing wrong at all. Beading looks perfect. :applesauce: :applesauce: There is no beading - that's why it looks ok! The itty bitty beads I tried stitching on, I removed. They looked too big. And like they didn't really belong, so I left it without. Good enough! Thanks, ...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects
I'm calling the bird done. I stitched in the stamens on the right side group of flowers and put on 3 or 4 beads but even though the beads I got were super tiny (I looked in a few stores, they were the smallest I could find and they are indeed really, really small but they're not stitched into their ...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects
I'm getting there. Problem is, my mom's birthday is Friday next week. I still have to finish backstitching (I've only done the 2 flowers so far), but then I have to sew on the 75 tiny yellow beads for the stamens and put in hoop & finish off the hoop with a piece of white felt blanket stitched o...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
Do you usually stitch with a laying tool? Have you tried it yet? Not usually, but if I'm using metallics, definitely. Also used it when I was trying out rayon thread (never again!). The laying tool does help make more even stitches and makes the overall project look better (to me). If I'm stitching...

I don't use photobucket now either - it was a real pain  I wonder if others are like me - checking in on their phones and meaning to post when accessing a pc and then forgetting  Yes, I do that too - although I'm not a old-timer to the site, but forget that I meant to do things all the ...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
I have used a similar laying tool but it was plain silver... so boring. :P I much prefer the celtic one. I like it because it's malleable so I can bend it around my thumb to fit better so it stays on. It's a little like stitching with a narwhal stuck on my finger, and I have to be careful where I pu...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions
So with my administrative professional's gift card, this is the stash I bought: http://i1160.photobucket.com/albums/q497/isaacson72/stash%20may_zpsm6hpfvyj.jpg The metallic thread was in their clearance section - all that for $6! Also, the Home Sweet Home design is up for grabs. I got it in the clea...
