I love seeing these. You're making such wonderful progress. I haven't seen a Wrendale yet that I didn't like--there's just something about them that makes me smile. Can't wait to see more progress on these!

Re: Dressmaking

:applesauce: Well done! I'm really impressed with your work. Your daughter is very lucky already--and when she gets older, she'll have the best dresses for school dances, and won't have to worry that anyone else is going to show up wearing the same thing! My grandmother was a whiz with the sewing ma...

Re: 2019 Stash & Grab

So many animals here now! I love it. Just thought I'd pop in here to say hello and grab a tasty beverage...and then check out the puffin burrows. Life got a little hectic, and while I've managed to check in on people's WIPs, I haven't really been posting. On the plus side, I did manage to keep stitc...

Re: I'm just curious...

Both of those fabric options are beautiful. As for the couching, it's worth the effort. It can provide a nice effect because you can make it look like it's curving smoothly which I've never been able to do with backstitch. Mabel gave you great advice. The first time I tried couching, I didn't test i...

Re: Lady with flowers

Looks great! You deserve a break from the green. It can be hard to stitch all the same color or color family for long periods of time. I'm getting to a section in mine that's going to be all browns, which is probably why I've been avoiding picking it up lately. Looking forward to more updates.

Re: Mill Hill Quilted Cats

You're making great progress! I think the stitching looks lovely :) I know what you mean though, as I started my very first Mill Hill kit this past weekend, and I pulled my first 10-15 stitches out twice before deciding that must just be how it looks. The stitches do look a bit different on the perf...

Re: New to the Forum!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Been there with the backstitching! One of the best tips I picked up here was to do the backstitching as you go along instead of leaving it to the very end. I always had a hard time figuring out where the stitches were supposed to go, especially in areas where the colo...

Re: New to forum

Welcome to the forum! I'm looking forward to seeing your projects. It's really neat that you keep track of how long it takes you to complete a piece. I'm only able to track it in months, or in some cases years. Since I watch TV while I stitch, I'd never get an accurate count even if I did write down...

Aww, thanks everyone! I'm really glad I found this community and decided to stop lurking. It's really nice to see how helpful and encouraging everyone is to one another here, whether it's about cross stitching or life in general. I'm hoping to be more active again soon, but I do check in, even...

Re: Advice needed: 16 or 18 count for Artecy pattern?

Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance. I'd been leaning toward 18, but couldn't quite commit. After seeing everyone's pictures, I feel good about it :) Those both turned out fantastic! Richard, thanks for your thoughts on evenweave. I plan to give it a try next time I stitch something that's...

Advice needed: 16 or 18 count for Artecy pattern?

I'm ready to buy fabric so I can start my first Artecy pattern, but I can't make up my mind between 16 and 18 count Aida. Has anyone who has stitched an Artecy pattern have any advice? They give the project size on 14 count, but I'm not a huge fan of stitching on 14. To me, it usually looks more &qu...

Re: Squirrel's Stitching Update `21/9/17

You've made a wonderful start on the stocking! I love that pattern--if I had seen this before I started stitching mine, I would have stitched it instead. All the animals in it make me smile. And I completely understand about the green symbols in the dimensions kits--it's a hard color to read. On top...
