Re: Yay, my Garden of Earthly Delights kit came!

What is the actual stitch count? The stitch count is 173,444 (262 stitches wide by 662 stitches high). I'm glad it's going to be as big as it will be, I'm going to hang it up on my living room wall. If I was expecting people to look at it from a short distance away (like a bookmark or coaster) I'd ...

What's your favourite count of fabric to work on?

I seem to prefer 14 ct aida. I also like both 11 ct & 16 ct. The 11 ct because of how quickly even a fairly large design seems to appear & 16 ct for the additional detail. I've noticed quite a few of you seem to prefer much higher count (18, 22, 28, more?) So I decided to post a poll.

Yay, my Garden of Earthly Delights kit came!

I ordered a kit of the painting Garden of Earthy Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. I've been waiting for this kit to come for a while. It came yesterday :whoop: and it's huge! . The finished size will be 125 cm tall by 48 cm wide (14 ct aida). The pattern is 60 pages (but it's fairly large print). http:...

Re: Largest cross stitch project

Wow!! That is awesome! It looks larger than 14 count to me. I'm working on 11 count right now with something, and I was thinking it looked about that size or maybe larger. I wonder how much floss she used?  I looked into it a bit more and it's on 11ct aida. I know that's a bit of a l...

Re: Girl with a pearl earring

Thanks for letting me know the pronunciation and giving a link to the Russian site. http://i.imgur.com/qHWxlan.jpg I've done bit more outlining. The right side is done all the way to the edge. Once the outlining on the left side is done I'll go back to working on the face. I'm looking forward to som...

Re: Largest cross stitch project

This might also count as "Large" cross stitch project.

Instead of aida or linen, they used white pegboard and yarn. After stitching the pattern, they covered it with a sheet of glass & made it into a pretty cool coffee table.

Re: Girl with a pearl earring

Thanks everyone! The kit is from a Russian company, this is what their name is in cyrillic: http://i.imgur.com/iavdbAs.jpg Don't ask me to pronounce it in Russian, but the company name translates to "Golden Fleece" in english. They seem to have a lot of really nice kits. I bought it from a...

Re: Washing Finished Projects

I've just finished a printed cross stitch that I had to wash. I didn't take any progress pics, but here it is before I cleaned it. http://i.imgur.com/0ZxKN88.jpg You can see the colour key was printed at the bottom of the aida. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't go away completely but it did. http...

Re: Largest cross stitch project

I found a completed version of the Quingming festival cross stitch. This one measures 22 meters and was made by just one person (a lady named Yang Hua) over the course of only 3 years! http://i.imgur.com/qzPGWdG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/78fH5w7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Nqllza8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mpl...

Re: Review sites you've ordered from

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of their pictures are VAST. 198 x 94cm............................... That would take decades. Regards, Richard That's nothing, their largest kit is over 6 meters long! (its of a famous Chinese panorama painting called: Along the river at the Quingming festival). Even th...

Re: 2015 Deliveries and New Stash Aquisitions

Really looking forward to seeing you stitch this one. Should be beautiful!! How large is it? Carole  It will be 120cm tall when it's done. (about half size compared to the original) I'll try to keep as much detail as possible with some backstitching to help bring out a bit of the suff that w...

Re: 2015 Mini Projects

That looks appropriate for Halloween! Looks awfully big for a mini project, but it is hard to envision size when there isn't anything to compare it to. Carole  Ha! well, it will probably look a bit more like this, once I simplify it enough to fit on a dice bag. http://i.imgur.com/7ArXzan.jpg

Re: Review sites you've ordered from

I've ordered a few smaller printed cross stitch kits from a chinese company called easybuy-2014 on ebay. All the colours were organized into numbered hanks on a card and both the paper chart and the colours on the fabric itself were easy to read. I didn't have any problems with the threads breaking,...

Re: 2015 Mini Projects

I'm working on a dice bag or a friend of mine. It will be made of black aida with a red lining. I'm stitching a large d20 (a d20 is a 20 sided polyhedral die) on the front. The opposite side will have words stitched onto it. I'm still deciding between "Dice of dubious results" or "Tha...

Re: 2015 Deliveries and New Stash Aquisitions

I've just ordered a kit that I'm very exited about! It's based on the rightmost panel of the painting "Garden of earthly delights" by Hieronymus Bosch. I plan on posting a stitch-along, thread on this forum when I start it.

So far I've only done a few days of stitching on this project, but it's coming along nicely. Here's the first days work: http://i.imgur.com/CMuPz8R.jpg The second day the lower jaw and mouth was almost complete: http://i.imgur.com/vupz3qx.jpg And the third day I did more on the upper half of the fac...
