Re: Top stitch direction - going against the grain
I don't really think that it's that noticeable. I did a project like that, showed it to a bunch of experienced stitchers, and got nothing but compliments on how wonderful it looked. They had no idea that the stitches weren't all going the same way. This was right after I heard these same stitchers a...

On that fabric, it looks like a stained glass window. Pretty.

Re: Melinda's Latch Hooking
I'm glad to see this one come to life. I've never designed my own rug, but you have certainly piqued my interest. I'd advise starting with a simple design with few colors to start with. A cool background can be achieved by simply using variegated yarn. The project I am working on now has 17 colors....

They never do look as great in pictures, do they? Still photos just can't pick up shiny.
Re: Hello!
Hello, Kitty! Is Cathy your middle name, or is there some other reason people use that nickname? I'm just curious since my sister is also called Cathy or Cat (her hubby calls her Kitty), even though her first name is Patricia. She uses her middle name.

Re: Melinda's Latch Hooking
I use I Love This Yarn. The pre-cut rug yarn is thicker, so the end result is squishier than what I make. If you want to buy a skein of "proper" rug yarn, look for heavy worsted weight or bulky. I fold the canvas because it's just too big to hold flat. I keep it on my lap while I work. It ...

I can see how all that black and white can get boring, but it does look great.

Re: Melinda's Latch Hooking
I bought a few skeins from Hobby Lobby for a varied rug, so it will happen. :D I had a little trouble with my rug. I wasn't liking how the colors looked, so I redid the design. I had to take a bunch of pieces out and replace them. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c120/Dabogrl/Works%20in%20Progress/...

Day 043
Thank you. I hope I can get more ideas. My brain has been feeling so empty lately. I went down a dark path with my design today... http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c120/Dabogrl/365/listen_zpsiynplcky.jpg Listen! This design may be cruel to fairies, but it is full stitch only and is not cruel ...

Re: Design-a-Day
Thank you, everyone. The hardest part of that alphabet was picking the animals. There's a sad lack of animals that start with U, while some other letters, especially D, had so many that it was hard to pick just one. I'm not good at making decisions. I'm glad you approve of the puffin, Wendy. :D

Re: OT (sorta): Been gone a while
I can relate on the sister thing. I have problems with my own sister. When I make things for my nephew, I focus on the joy of the project. Thinking about Cathy makes me want to quit everything, so I try to just not think about her. Just focus on enjoying what you're making and the fun of sharing it ...

Re: Melinda Does Stitch - update 8/24
It's been a while since my last update. My arm is recovering quickly. The pain has gone down enough for me to use it again. Now I have a set of exercises aimed at recovering the muscle mass I lost while it was out of commission. I can already notice a difference. :whoop: On the dragon sunset, I'm pa...

If he's going to hang it on a rail, wouldn't it be better to have at least 2 loops?
I'm sure you'll have this stitched up pretty quickly and be back on your own projects soon.
