Re: Help! Anchor colours...

Thank you. It's something I never thought of...that the company would change the colours. So frustrating to unpick all that work so thanks for the idea, might have to go for that option :)

Help! Anchor colours...

Hi, i've been an avid cross-stitcher for about 25 years and have quite a collection of Anchor threads. I usually don't have any problems with colours but i've just started a project, went to the faithful old cross stitch threads and got which colours I needed and started stitching. However, when I w...

Re: Enlarging a project

Thanks. It's 14 count the design is stitched on and I was dreading the answer being to have to draw it all out onto a graph :? I've not tried this before so i'll let you know how it goes :)

Enlarging a project

Hi! I've found a chart I'd really like to cross stitch but the finished project will only be 5 x 10cm whereas I would like the finished project to be possibly four times that size but have no idea where to start apart from drawing it all out onto graph paper and making one stitch as four stitches bu...

Re: Advice for unpicking work

:) Thank you for your advice :) I have been away from the computer busy doing a new project for Mum's birthday so I was trying to concentrate on that! I decided to have a morning of organising my cross stitching stuff and can't believe how many projects I started on with probably no intention of fin...

Re: Suggestions for a Newbie!!

I always make a photocopy of the chart and sometimes enlarge it if there are lots of different coloured stitches in certain areas. I also use sticky notes (can I say Post-it? or similar) as a marker to see where i'm going as they can be lifted off and put back onto the chart a few times.

Re: Advice for unpicking work

Thank you for all your advice. I use a 24 needle, never heard of "frogging" but I will try all your suggestions. When washing the fabric the holes seem to "shrink" but as I don't usually use a hoop I'll give it a go and see if that works. Thanks again, much appreciated :)

Advice for unpicking work

Hi I started a cross stitch design on 14 count Aida and decided I wasn't happy with the work so started to unpick it all. I was hoping to use the fabric again but the holes I've stitched through are larger and unsightly and when I've tried washing Aida in the past it looses it stiffness and seems to...
