Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

I got the quote out before the deadline. Hope it was enough. If it was, may well have played my part in securing up to 50 people's jobs for the next 20 years. However, there are still bids for 3 spacecraft boxes to look at... This weekend is now set aside for fun & home jobs until I have to driv...

Ribbon (Yes, Mabel, I have read Pyramids & virtually every other Pratchett book. Was wondering if anyone would get the reference. Roland, I don't blame you. It can be an appalling experience, definitely not what a mum-to-be wants to hear, but they really should hear it at some point otherwise ca...

Pain ( And fear, and agony, and flashbacks and horror and blood and pain and more pain causing a mindless creature to try to climb the walls to get away from the pain tearing her in half and blood up the walls and frantic full bore screaming of a loved one that you just can't do anything to help to ...

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

An end is in sight. Of a sort. Since the beginning of April I've been trying to handle three large quotations for 'stuff' at work. One for ground handling equipment for the Rosalind-Franklin Mars rover as it's built in aseptic conditions, and then two quotes for three different big boxes for another...

Re: Talking of socks

Oh the luxury of having socks made to ones actual foot size and not someone with feet less than half the size of your own...!
The entire sock stash looks as if it has a green tinge at the moment.

Re: Quilting?

I always wondered how difficult quilting is. I've tried veneering a chessboard pattern and that needed to be so precise that it was ridiculous. I always felt quilting should be the same - but have never tried. In retrospect, I'm beginning to be glad I've never tried! Your initial freehand results lo...

Re: 2024 Deliveries & Stash Acquisition

 Much easier material to work with, metal. At work we had a machinist who hated wood. His complaint: You couldn't weld a patch on, if you got it wrong, and then carry on as if nothing happened. There was another old designer who always asked 'Do you want it from metal or aluminium?'. Err. Alumi...

Most engines are simple.
It's just the details that make them difficult.

Re: 2024 The Smile for Today

I honestly don't know. The lion didn't seem hugely domesticated from the way one of the two kept tapping it on the nose with a stick. Happened too often for me to have felt comfortable in that situation.

Richard.

Drip [Some, but not all, of the 'Wild Garlic' in the clumps where it's growing in our garden has green flashes on the petals, so could be 'Three Cornered Leek'. But the rest is certainly Wild Garlic. [Wild] Garlic

(We have some growing next to our snowflake flowers at the moment. It really shouldn't be happening as the Garlic likes much damper conditions than the Snowflakes.)

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts

I do understand what you're saying, but.. It's incredibly useful having a base to drop into when visiting my dad instead of having to book hotel rooms every 6-8 weeks. My gut reaction is that if we could rent out most of it, and keep the extension (which is almost a granny flat except no cooking fac...
