How to care for overdyed threads?

I recently started two stocking projects I'm hoping to finish up for family this year. One uses exclusively Weeks Dye Works threads and the other uses a combination of WDW and Classic Colorworks (or Crescent Colors, whatever the current name is, can't remember off the top of my head  ). Does a...

Sampler patterns

I signed up for a Round Robin project in a few months focused on sampler patterns. I'm having a hard time picking out a design though. Have any of you worked on any particular samplers that you loved? Or some designs you would recommend? I'm not a big fan of antique/primitive/reproduction sampler pa...

Re: Spring Online Needlework Show is Open, April 16-21

I feel like the show is getting smaller than last year. I was disappointed that I had seen most of the designs already. Found a new designer to me though, and was naughty and bought a chart from them right away. The perils of browsing...

What is a Quaker pattern?

Okay, so I actually do know what a quaker pattern is; when I see one at least. But I was trying to explain (via email) to a friend exactly what they are and couldn't think of how to describe it. And a quick Google search didn't help much either (most just led to examples of quaker patters you can bu...

Yes, the pen is a much faster option for gridding. I haven't been brave enough to try it yet, since I'm scared it won't wash out if I leave it too long!

It's been awhile since I updated this one, but decided to pull it out of the closet this morning to work on and got a bit farther:

My Little Pony Pixel Magnets - Update 4/14/15

Hey all, I realized I haven't been posting much of my stitching updates here lately since I've been putting most of them up on my blog. However, I am stitching up a set of magnets as a gift for my cousin, and he reads said blog, so I haven't been able to post my progress pictures as usual. This morn...

Love the color conversions Rose. I will need to remember that about the metallic on the skate blades when I finally get the chance to stitch mine. I have several birthday presents that need to be finished first!

Re: Good stitching magazine?

I only do the cross stitch myself, so my favorite magazines feature mostly that, but I know Cross Stitch & Needlework does often feature hardanger, punch needle, and other embroidery techniques in their issues.

Re: Airplane Travel Stitching

Thank you for all the advice! Luckily, I am travelling with family, so they won't be able to complain (too much) if I get in their way. I like the look of the thread cutters, and I didn't know about those, so thanks for that. Sadly I don't think I have time to order one online before I leave. Our Jo...

Airplane Travel Stitching

So I'm taking my first airplane flight in a long time, and as it's going to be a 5 hour flight with a 3 hour layover, I wanted to take some of my stitching along this time. Does anyone here have experience with taking a WIP through airport security? I'm not sure what the TSA regulations on scissors/...

Re: Cross Stitch for Charity

Stunning Karen, I love it! By coincidence, someone sent in a photo they'd done of a cushion in the latest issue of Cross Stitch Crazy magazine and it includes that tiger along with a leopard and lion cub in a trio. I was desperately trying to find the design online and now I have! :) https://s-medi...

Re: Joan Elliott's 2014 Mystery SAL

I looked up the book last night, and although the fairy I was thinking of is very similiar to the bottom right fairy, she's not quite a match: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd47/shadyglade/IMG_20150217_214544548.jpg So I guess that still leaves the mystery about where the original pattern comes...

Thanks so much for the heads up! Unfortunately I have some deadline stitching on my hands at the moment so I won't be joining you just yet, but I look forward to seeing your continued progress.

Very pretty design!

Re: Joan Elliott's 2014 Mystery SAL

Alyssa' I'd love to get it, so confirming the book would be fantastic. Mind you maybe Joan does it as a chart pack, will have to see, sometimes the book ones can't come out. Niki xxx Yeah, if it's the book I think it is, it's through one of the companies that doesn't allow her to sell the designs a...

Re: Joan Elliott's 2014 Mystery SAL

I absolutely love the bottom right angel/fairy. (Does anyone know off hand where she is from?) I don't have the book in front of me, so I can't look, but I believe this is one of the Christmas fairy patterns she did in one of the Craftways Christmas Cross Stitch book. It's Handmade Memories I think...

Re: Helpful pets

Well I did manage to finally get a couple hours to myself this weekend to devote to stitching... until my helper decided to come velcro himself to my leg. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd47/shadyglade/IMG_20150111_213024.jpg He kept "helping" by grabbing the thread as I pulled it thro...
