Floral Charts

Thanks for the link. The floral charts are some of the best I've seen, and the Inuit designs are really precious.

Re: Hi there from Iowa!

Thanks Maggie,

I will check it out. What size floss or pearl cotton is used?

I hope you love that name! It was the name of a childhood friend. She didn't like it, but I loved it. Actually, I liked any name that wasn't Ethel!

I love Des Moines! If you travel to DM again, and you like Vietnamese food, you must check out A-Dong's in Des Moines. The food is awesome. They have a great Art Center and Botanical Gardens for sites. I used to travel for my job and always checked out the towns' sites and restaurants.

I don't feel so bad after seeing Carrie's "flipside" photos! Just kidding they are not that bad.

Re: How do you make neat backs?

Amusing anecdote... I just finished a cross stitchery of my son and grandson from a photo - 14,976 stitches. It wasn't finished for Christmas, but I displayed it, to let my son know it was coming. It was 144 st X 104 st using 90 colors. (Long story that has to do with software.) Anyway, I was puzzle...

Re: My charity project

What a really nice thing to do! Karma will be good to you! I am from the Midwest (USA) and have returned to the Midwest, but for 4-years I lived in the LA/Long Beach area in CA. There were so many homeless people it was mind boggling to a midwesterner, and I soon learned I couldn't save the world. A...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

I organize my stitchery stuff the same as most... 1) Floss goes on bobbins, as soon as it is purchased. I made my own numbers because I have multiple skeins. Then filed in the plastic boxes in numerical order. I'm too embarrassed to say how many plastic boxes, I have. 2) Pearl cottons are in the sam...

Re: Hi there from Iowa!

Thank you for the "welcomes". I haven't received the afghans, as yet, so I don't know the "count". Question: Which size and type of threads are used? I have nearly all the DMC floss, many colors of #5, 8 & 12, Pearl Cotton. Just preparing (in my mind)! Haha! Another thing: Do...

Re: Touching

I don't mean to appear to be a stitchery snob, BUT on projects that I have no intention of washing, I wear plastic gloves while stitching. There are some projects that just can't be washed, like anything with ribbon, or pulled thread projects, and sometimes washing affects beads. I have a stitchery ...

Hi there from Iowa!

Hi, I'm Ethel. I learned to embroider as a child, but seriously got into it, again, about 27-yrs ago. I have learned for me to finish a project, I not only have to really like the pattern, it has to be a challenge of some sort, and it also needs to be functional or have some greater purpose, like it...
