Re: Huge new project/questions
Thanks all of you for your responses! I will certainly keep you up to date on my progress. I'm excited, but a little intimidated at the thought of doing a project that's 40" square on 25 count fabric, doing it one over. rcperryls, I'm curious why the stitch bow system didn't work for you. I'm t...

Huge new project/questions
Hello all! It's been a long time since I've posted here. I'm going to try to make it a regular thing in the new year. Anyway, I'm going to begin a new project: the Heaven and Earth Designs: Supersized Four Seasons Max Colors. Finished it'll be about 40 inches square on 25 count linen, stitched one o...

Family founded (date) pattern wanted
Hello! I purchased a cross stitch pattern some time back and was saving it until I knew the date we would adopt our daughter. Well, the adoption became official on 2/5/16, and now I can't find the pattern anywhere! I believe it was a home done in a sampler style, and the words "The (blank) fami...
Pen Pal?
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas and will have an equally great New Year! I've been sort of hunting around for a pen pal lately, mainly because I miss the old fashioned pen and paper routine, and I'd really like to correspond with someone. I've tried pen pal web sites, but they'r...

Kreinik is Evil
Hi everyone, I just needed some room to vent. I believe that Kreinik blending filament is going to be the downfall of me. Words cannot express the vile, stinking vulgarity that is Kreinick blending filament. I would like to meet Mr. Kreinik, the creator of this stuff, and punch him in the head. Repe...

Re: How do you organize your floss?
I would definitely have to stand up to reach the top four rows, but I really don't see that as a problem. It's no more effort than turning my chair around and pulling the floss out of the storage box, and probably a lot quicker!

Re: How do you organize your floss?
I got the DMC U1633 in the mail today. Amazon has them for $21, and they're prime, so free shipping if you subscribe to that. So far I really like it! It's really well-made with double-stitching all around. You may want to avoid putting floss bobbins in the top row, as it can be a little cumbersome ...

Re: How do you organize your floss?
I've been going crazy looking for the right system. I've been using the plastic bobbins on rings, but there was always floss coming loose and tangling with other colors. Then I tried a storage box, but found that to be too clumsy, what with one bobbin pushing two other up and over itself, etc. THEN ...

Lily Fairy
Hi folks! It's been a long time since I've posted here. Partly because I just finished a project that took me a couple of years! I ran the numbers and there are over 44,000 squares in this one. Anyway, I'm rather proud of it: http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz299/reese1911/IMG_5318_zpsjaayacr2.jp...

12 Days of Christmas
Hello everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the beginning of spring! I just thought I'd check in as I've started a new project. It's from the Dimensions Gold Collection. Has anyone had any experience with this company? It's kind of a departure for me since I usually buy a pattern and go from there, o...

Re: Stitching project of my wife Susan
I really do appreciate all the nice comments on my latest project. A few people asked what I'm working on next. It's from a painting called "Lily Fairy." This is actually the first big project I've tackled, but I put it aside when I started the Susan project. Here's a pic of what the finis...

Re: Stitching project of my wife Susan
It's been quite a while since I've posted an update on this project. I'm sorry, but I've totally forgotten to upload the finished piece! That's right, it's finally done! Ten months later I have this: http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz299/reese1911/IMG_3607_zpsb3ece522.jpg I hope you enjoy it. I s...

Re: Confessions of a Cross Stitcher
Oh dear I've got a confession I've just got to share with you all in the hope that you can a) Reassure me I'm not a bad friend b) reassure my behaviour is normal? My friend Lorraine and I have been best friends since we were seven which is now coming up to almost fifty years and we are like sisters...

Re: Confessions of a Cross Stitcher
I have found that stitching takes away from the time I should be practicing guitar. But I don't much care. I do try to divide them up equally. My first project was a kit. I messed it up badly and quit. I bought the same kit again and messed it up again!!! (But I moved on, hehehe) I didn't take the a...

Re: Stitching project of my wife Susan
I really appreciate all the nice comments! It's so nice to have the support of your peers. @littleturtlegirl, I started at the upper right corner and went from there. Do you typically start in the middle? I know it's recommended, but I rarely do. Call me a rule breaker! 8) Oh, and someone asked if S...

Stitching project of my wife Susan
Hello! I was advised to put this project into this section, so here it is! This is a piece that is about half done at this point. It's derived from a picture of my wife, Susan. I uploaded a picture to pic2pat, and got a pattern from the photo. It's really an incredible service, and it allows you to ...

Re: Hello from Connecticut
Hi all, and thank you so much for the warm welcome! I really hope to get to know you all (well, that may be a tall order!), or some of you, better! I've been working on a piece for some time now, probably five months, of my wife Susan. This is from a picture of her when we were first dating. We've b...

Hello from Connecticut
Hi everyone. My name is Bill Reese and I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for a place to hang out and figured a group of people with a similar interest would be perfect! I've been cross stitching for about two years now, and I really love it. I find that it's about the best relaxation techniqu...
