What is your favorite brand of scissors?
I am researching different brands of embroidery scissors... 3 1/2" and I was wondering if you all could tell me what you use and/or what you recommend. I have a small fold up pair right now that I'm using and would like to buy a nice pair that will last. I can't decide if I need the straight or...

Re: how did you start?
When I was a new bride in a strange city and we had very little money, my DH purchased a kit for me. Now, 31 years later, I've tried many hobbies and now I'm back to cross stitching and really enjoying learning from this group. I've done several cross stitch pieces over the years but my favorite wil...

Re: About those floor stands.
Hi Sandi, I just got my Grip It Plus floor stand put together and I LOVE IT! I've never used a floor stand before but it makes things (for me at least) much easier. I've been trying the two handed stitching and it's going well. I did purchase a Daylight magnifier that I clamped on and an Ott light t...

Re: Trading card holders for floss
So the trading card plastic pockets didn't work very well . When I turned a page, the floss bobbins would fall out. So...for now, I've placed them in zip lock bags 200's in one, 300's in another and so on. I have stash from 30 years that I'm sad to say isn't organized , so after I put get everything...

Several questions
I've been browsing the site and the more I browse, I find I have more questions... 1. How do I get the smiles to attach? Mine aren't disabled. 2. I have only worked with one needle going at a time but I want to learn how to have multiple needles "parked" and ready on my fabric. How do you ...

Trading card holders for floss
So I went to Walmart last night and found "Ulta Pro 9 Pocket Pages" for trading cards...35 pages of 9 for under $5 so two packs should be enough for every DMC color plus plenty left over for specialty floss. The bobbins fit great. I'm going to start organizing my floss and put the pages in...

Re: Miniature stitching?
Athalie, I have a huge dollhouse I'm working on now but it's from a kit by Real Good Toys. It will take me years to complete. One reason I started a dollhouse is so that I could eventually attempt miniature stitching projects. So far, I have just been collecting furniture and tiny items while the bu...

Re: HAED tips?
I ordered my first HAED chart yesterday but won't start right away. I have done needlepoint and I'm familiar with tent stitching but the 2 over 1 for cross stitching....you've lost me....

Re: Howdy
Hi and welcome! I'm a new member and have recently gotten back into stitching and a lot has changed apparently since I cross stitched in the 80's. I am working on a pattern about the size of yours and have ordered 8X8 Q snap frames. The frames fit on the fabric like a hoop so you have to have enough...

Re: I'm having trouble...help
I ordered an 8X8" frame. My stitch area is about 15X23. I have a scroll frame that came with my lap stand. I may try this out to see how it works while I'm waiting on my Q snap to arrive. Guess I'll baste top and bottom onto scrolls. Do I need to do anything to the sides or is top and bottom en...

I'm having trouble...help
I've been hearing about how wonderful the Q snap frames are so I went to Michaels and bought what looked like the same thing. I bought a size too big as I later realized it's supposed to work like a hoop... but it's REALLY hard to get the clamps on and off and I'm wondering if the Q snaps enable you...

Re: Elizabeth Bradley kits
Doesn't she do the William Morris-like designs? If she is the designer I'm thinking of, she has books that have colored charts you can stitch by. Check ebay or Amazon for her books. Hope this helps.

Re: Largest project?
The largest project I've completed is this: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7076/6998994765_949a9f3b2d.jpg It's 20"x 8" and took me 5 months to complete in 2010. This was stitched after a 10+ year break from stitching. Calico, absolutely love the picture of your birds you cross stitched. Wa...

Around the World
If you could go anywhere in the world and shop for needlework items, where would you go and what would you buy (if money not an object)?
I'll start... I would love to go to England. I'd purchase some antique scissors or a very large kit or pattern.

Re: Backwards stitcher
I'm finding that I am doing more cross country lately when I used to park. I think the cross country is definately faster and saves floss.
